    HI

I have a question about the knx telegrams. Right now I try to read knxbus messages in a pi with the following setup; knxbuss -> serial interface (tapko) --> serial2USB (Prolific PL-2303) -- > to raspberry pi.

If i use a "minicom --device /dev/ttyUSB0 --baud 9600" terminal i can speak with the tapko is I use the commands that are in the examples https://www.tapko.de/fileadmin/user_...M-KNX_R1-4.pdf . But is it the same language as knxd speaks? Becouse i can't get knxd to start. what driver should i use? is the languare that tapko uses the right one?

    Hi lazat

What do you want to achieve? A simple Interface between KNX and a Linux server with knxd? And then? A system like Edomi, openHAB, smarthomeNG with probably a visu attached? And/or as an interface for the ETS to the KNX Bus?

As far as I can see, this Tapko interface is not what you want. Reading through the description, it seems to be a solution to intergrate e.g. Audio and Video equipment with RS232 interfaces to KNX. You can't use it for knxd or e.g. the ETS to program devices over that interface.

I don't know your setup and infrastructure, but when it comes to connecting a Raspi to KNX it is HIGHLY recommended to use a LAN connection and an IP (tunneling) interface. They aren't too expensive compared to other interface solutions like TPUART, USB etc. And they usually work flawlessly.

    Cheers, Martin

      Hi
Yes people says it not intended for this but i can't understand why not using it!. If it speaks knx it should work ?? I can send commands in telnet application to switch on lamps buy using the command ogs tds and so on in specified in the tapko documentation. How does knxd communicate with serial interfaces does it send the commands ogs or is that tapko specific language? right now I only want to send/rececive group telegrams not programming anything. I Have a paspberry kberry hat that is broken that i sent back on warranty replacement but I want to learn how the communication is done in knxd, Do I need a driver that translates commands in tapko docs to another language? Any example on what knxd send to the serial bus?

You don't need an example of what KNXD sends, you need documentation of the serial protocol your particular device uses.

When you have that, feel free to contribute a driver.

If you can't do it yourself (C++ is not a particularly simple language) there are people who might be convinced to write the code for some sort of compensation (money, a sample device, a few doses of vaccine effective against SARS-CoV-2 …).

ok that driver do you think would be the easet driver to port? I may check the source code if i get time. Right now we are out of stock in the SARS-COVID2. But people around be seams to be able to get it. Soon my turn! :-)

The "which driver would be easiest to port" question can only be answered with knowledge of the serial interface specification.
