    [EibStudio] Windows 8 problem

    Hello,
Does someone have problems with eibstudio and windows8?
I can monitor eib messages, but nconf remains blocked in transferring project or patches.
    No firewall, no antivirus.
    Windows 8 64bit.
Nconf simply hangs and i must reboot the pc.

With windows 7, i have no problems.

did you check the build in firewall of win8?
nconf must have a own rule.
....und versuchen Sie nicht erst anhand der Farbe der Stichflamme zu erkennen, was Sie falsch gemacht haben!

The firewall is off. No antivirus. UAC is off.
By pressing the "i" button, eibstudio returns the info of the eibpc.
Only nconf seems to have problems.
If i run it from the command line, it hangs too.

Anyway I would suggest to grant access to nconf within the Win8 FW config. I recognize the same issue each time I use a new EIBStudio and within a new nconf and my the FW isn't active. AFAIK you cannot fully deactivate the FW since Win Vista.
        Cheers,
        Oliver

Actually pressing the i button is the same as nconf -i [IP address]. The only difference might be that by pressing the i button the nconf is spawned as a child process with the rights of EibStudio whilst using the command line it is running with the current user rights.

I would suggest to add the nconf in your EibStudioData directory to the allowed programs whitin the firewall.

There might be however further drawbacks in Windows 8.

Until there is a better solution just use windows 7 on 32 bit and you will be fine.

          Regards,
          Bernd
