It looks like the additional modules can be accessed with a serial connection. But I think it depends on the modul you want to use with the arduino shield.

Seems like some of the GPIO communication on the PI is made with Python...
But basicly it would be the General Arduino functions and maybe Serial Library....
Forgive me for my minimal linux knowledge...
As i see it, with the librayes from Cooking Hacks - it is possible to read all Arduino snesors ans so on, by different commands from Pi's CLI. Isn't it possible to make some kind of a connection between their commands, and what sh.py knows, and accepts? (I know nothing is impossible)

Arduino Shield
Hi!
I'm also interested in implementing an Arduino into Smarthome. Actually I've almost managed it
I can recommend the Arduino shields like the one from Waterott. Just mount it on the Raspi and you can communicate via serial port very easily.
There is a plugin online https://github.com/Sicness/SmartHome...ter/arduino.py
but right now I'm trying to adapt the Roomba plugin..
I've connected a distance sensor, servo motors, capacitive touch and reed sensors so far.
