    - √ - Performance on 1-Wire plugin?

    Hello.
I was wondering, what is the performance on the 1-Wire plugin? Will there be long reaction time eg. from an input is detected to it has transmittet a telegram to the KNX bus?

I read in the plugin that:

"'Cycle’ = timeperiod between two sensor cycles. Default 300 seconds. If you decrease the cycle to much you could destabilise the bus, because of the increased power consumption."

According to the plugin source code, normal sensors have a cycle time of 300 seconds, IOs of 5 seconds and iButtons of 0.5 seconds.

Meaning that IO's will take at least 5 seconds to be registrated and processed?

I think so, yes. 1Wire is useful for something like reed contacts but not for light switches.

Argh okay... That doesn't work for me that long delay....
I must move on with the arduino project....

Just for Information, this is not a limitation of 1-Wire itself.

Last Friday, we showed on a regular's table in Munich, our new 1-Wire Professional Busmaster with 150 Sensors and 150 LEDs attached.

In Group of five LEDs, the LEDs run as a moving light within 0,8 seconds from left to right. Instead of LEDs, one could also use REED-contacs. Checking 150 REEDs in less than a second is not to bad. And we're working on some more improvements.

            Regards

            Stefan

Okay, that sounds pretty amazing, concidering the whole running from a one wire installation ... Then I'm curious of what it then is that makes this lousy performance?

because onwire cannot send active, its necessary to poll and this is done in a fix time interval....
