    Improved performance instead if pi?

    Hello guys.
Has anyone tried to install the sh.py and smarthome on a larger server than a raspberry? Does the page load get much faster on a iPad ? I think it takes a bit too long time on the pi....

I'm using page cache... So that should be the fastest way

I had smartVISU running on a virtual Linux with smarthome.py still on my PI. The performance was great.
Now both is hosted on one PI. And with caching on, the performance is still OK.

I have it on my synology - the performance is way better (even on pages with a lot of plots). I have some other issues at the moment but if it is running it is running fast...

Just read this article - not exactly about smartVISU, but it triggered my decision to go for the same in the near future.

sV is basically made in php/JS/HTML, so this shouldn't be an issue at all, any web server should do the job. smarthome.py (which relies on python etc) will remain in the worst case on the Pi. Or go into a virtual machine on the NUC in the best case.

sh and sV connect through IP communication anyways, so I am not expecting major networking issues as well.

Feel free to correct me if any of the above thoughts head into a wrong direction ...

[Edit: Current plan is to run Windows as the NUC's basic OS, and some Linux in the VM's, making access to some home automation files way easier. Plus, the control software for my heating system is only avail in windows - but this may change, it is my next project after I am done with the controlled air unit. ]

okay, that was actually also my thoughts... I will install it in VMWare esxi and see what happens on the performance
