I was considering buying protection devices from Germany, as they are available there at almost half the price. However it seems that even though all the device parameters are same, different model numbers are used in Germany and here in Latvia. For example for 4P/40A/30ma RCCB for Germany market Hager uses model number CDA440D, while for Latvia the model number in Hager site and stores is CD440J.
The only difference I can spot is the list of standards the devices conform to:
CDA440D - IEC EN 61008-2-1 and a few VDE Germany specific standards
CD440J - IEC EN 61008-1
Looking at the local regulations, all I can find that RCCB devices should conform to EN 61008, which both of the devices seem to do.
Electrician had no idea about this, he never knew different versions even existed and suggested I can buy them from Germany, if the savings are substantial.
My gut tells that the devices are actually technically identical, and from safety perspective I could use ones certified for Germany. BUT from legal perspective I must use ones sold in my region to avoid liability in case of any accident.
Any thoughts?
