It was always allowed to use more than 1 power supply per line. This should be mentioned in the basic course documents ;-)
But there is a minimum distance between two power supplies (according to the specs of the individual power supply). Just putting another on into the same cabinet most likely is not allowed.

From what I have seen ABB specifies this to 200m on some of their devices. Also checked MDT and Zennio, but could not find any information.

Has anyone tried putting two PSU close 2-3m apart on the line?

I'm also interested to hear what Hjk (MDT) has to say about the issue...?

Maybe it also has something to do with how many devices you have between the PSU's and not only the distance?

I'm currently using an ABB 640mA PSU with a 12v backup battery. Since this backup is important to me ( power outages in winter) I'm planning on adding another to power more than the devices I have today. I'm currently just below the limit of my current PSU.

      Thanks.

Its possible to use 2 MDT PS ( both must be same Type) in parallel up to 640mA devices. Distance should be > 50m.
Its not allowed to use 960 or 1280 mA in parallel because of the max Bus current.

Ok, think I'll just have to bite the bullet and buy a line repeater and power supply.

          Thanks everyone.
