Gira HomeServer - initial problem with light control

    Hi

Hope it is ok for me to write in English here.

I hope someone can help me with some Gira Home Server challenges I’m struggling with.

    Problem:
I cant switch light on and off with buttons created in Visu.

    Brief descrition of my setup:
Gira HomeServer 4 connected to LAN subnet 192.168.9.1/24.
MDT IP Router connected to LAN subnet 192.168.9.1/24.
Configured project in Gira Expert and uploaded it to the HS.
Exported and imported Group Addresses from ETS to HS.
Created a test Visu with a Dyn. Symbol (switch light).

I have confirmed that multicast traffic from HS to IP Router (Bus) is working. I see telegrams in the Bus Monitor coming from HS.
What I see in Bus monitor in ETS, is that telegrams from HS is coming from a “Unknown Source Address” and that they don’t have flags. I don’t know if this is the problem, but I can’t see anything pointing me in any other directions.

Any pointers where and how to troubleshoot further is highly appreciated. I’m stuck and have no more ideas where to look.

You can't switch or you don't get any feedback. This ist important that you connect the feedbacks.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, I can’t switch. I haven’t thought about feedbacks. Very short, how to setup feedbacks?

Is feedback a prerequisites for HS to work?

No, feedback is not a prerequisite. It will be needed later to let the HS know what is happening on the bus. But first you need to figure out what is (not) going on.
Is this your first attempt to do anything with the HS, or is it a running system that already does some logic and controls something on the bus? I think that is important to know, so that you can figure out where to start your troubleshooting. If this is a first installation then it would be helpful to post screenshots of the HS configuration page and of the ETS group monitor log.

Yes, this is the first attempt to do anything with the Gira HS. I have not been building any branding or anything. Just done som initial configuration of HS, like network, user and visualization. Made a visualization (startpage) with one switch connected to one light/Group Address. This is as plain as a HS can be. Thought i start small and correct error before going full scale.

I have attached some screenshots of Expert config and Bus Monitor output.

            Cheers!

Eirik, I cannot use the bus monitor - but the screenshot looks just like what I would see in the group monitor. I don't know what the 'LL_ACK' stands for though... The ON and OFF signals appear to have reached the bus. I presume you get the same result when you use the group monitor and issue the ON or OFF command there?

If still nothing happens, then I would think the issue is with the configuration of the actor. Verify how you have that set up and/or post a screenshot of the configuration of that channel. If you set up a feedback GA then you will see in the group monitor whether or not the actor responds.

                Hi

Attached is config of Dimming Actuator, picture 1 to 5.
What is interesting is Picture 7 and 8 where I have run Group Monitor.
In picture 7, I have used the Multicast NIC to monitor and extract Bus communication from Visu switches. I tested the "Write" button in ETS when the Multicast NIC (Hyper-V Ethernet Adapter (224.0.23.14)) was defined in Group Monitor. The result was that no light where switched on/off, regardless of were the communication where coming from (HS og Write button in ETS).
On image 8, monitoring is being done using the Interface IP Router (192.168.9.201:3671). This, of course, does not catch up HS communication. The Write button in ETS worked as it suppose to, when the IP Router NIC was selected. Lights where turned on/off. I also used the rocker to successfully turn light on/off as the monitoring shows.

I cant belive that there is something wrong with Multicast NIC, because communication is coming to, and is transferred to the bus. There problem must be somewhere within the bus, not accepting communication from the Multicast NIC?

I have no problem programming and downloading from ETS when i choose the Multicast adapter in ETS. It is obvious that the IP router and Multicast adapter can communicate to Bus..

YES! I got it to work. I change the parameters on the IP Router as shown on attached picture.

Eirik, thanks for the feedback - glad it is working now. I am sure you will enjoy expanding the functionality of the visu and getting more smartness of the HS into your KNX installation!
