    Gira G1 IP topolgy

    Hi everyone,

I have a question regarding KNX topology in combination with the Gira G1.

    Situation:
    • Free standing house (EFH)
    • 250m2
    • 2 floors

I have started the design of my KNX system with the following topology.

    https://knx-user-forum.de/filedata/f...562&type=thumb

The reason I went for a main line, in combination with three underlying lines (I know some people see this as overkill) is the following:
    • I wanted a clear separation between down floor and 1st floor due to the fact that 1st floor will be developed in later stage
    • I wanted a separate line for outside for overcurrent protection

Now that I made the decision to integrate two Gira G1 (WLAN) in my house I became a little confused by the proposed topology of Gira.

    https://knx-user-forum.de/filedata/f...563&type=thumb

I understand that the G1 is a network device that has to be placed on a IP line in ETS. How do I incorporate that in my current topology? Or is it better to go for a IP main line with three IP-routers that serve as line-coupler?

Regarding door communication I have another question.
The G1’s will also be used for door communication in combination with two outside camera stations (door and gate). To me it is not very clear which components I need. Is the Gira TKS-IP-Gateway sufficient? Or do I also need Gira Video control device?

Let me know what you think!

    Cheers

I would stick with the first version, so the main line is TP. If you ever want to integrate KNX RF you need (at present time) an TP Line to start with.

      Florian,

      Thank you for your reply
so the G1 can function with a IP router positioned in the TP main line?

You can see the example you need in the next chapter of the Gira G1 documentation.
I use it in this way but my internal devices are directly attached to the mainline 1.0.x and i have a LK for my outdoor devices.
So you can reduce the PowerSupply count by 1.
My 2 G1 POE are attached to 0.0.x.

for my door communication I use the Gira TX44 System with Video Controller and TKS-IP-Gateway. I guess the Audio controller would be enough if you will never use an inside TK device with video, except the G1.
My door camera is an Axis M3104-LVE. But the camera is not installed until now.

        cheers,
        Sebastian
