Multiple Temperature Sensors - is a PC needed?

I am looking for a solution to connect multiple (temperature) sensors to EIB. When searching the forum oftentimes the 1-wire solution is mentioned as a cost-effective solution. However, it appears that for such a solution there has to be a PC running all the time. I am looking for a solution that does not require a PC to be always on-line.

Intent is to measure multiple temperatures (room, heating water, etc) and later also a pressure, and make these measured data available on the KNX-bus. I have a Gira HomeServer3 to control the logic.

I can read German alright, but have a hard time writing it...

Thank you very much! I had seen the product in the first link, but it refers to connecting to another controller board "Die Platine ist für ein 2te Hutschienengehäuse mit dem entsprechendem Controllerboard vorgesehen." so I did not think it was suitable.

The second link (the Zennio Quad) seems simpler. I will look into that one further.

The usual solution is to use a WireGate.

As it is a Linux appliance it is a PC and it seems it doesn't fit your need.
BUT as it in an appliance you won't notice that it's a PC (or that it has Linux on it; at least if you don't want to). And it is designed to run 24/7 and to be low power, so it won't need more than 5 Watt of power.

By the way, the GIRA HomeServer is also a Linux appliance (and thus a real PC) that runs all the time - and needs more than 5 Watt of power...

at first, I wish you a warm welcome to this forum. I can see that you've been registered for a longer time and this is your first thread. It would be nice if you could fill out the profile correctly. I couldn't find a place called "Axel" and especially if you reside in a foreign country a hint to your origin would be somewhat helpful.

I wouldn't neccessarily call a wiregate a "PC" as it is an embedded system, so it is far off from what you'd call a personal computer. Please keep in mind that every single appliance in your bus installation contains a microprocessor.

I agree that the zennio quads are a good solution when it comes to the installation of a couple of temperature sensors, but I would definately be open for the wiregate solution as it would give some extra features.

When I bought an KNX-IP Router last year, I would have better bought a FT1.2 serial interface and with the money saved, I would've been almost have way for a wiregate (which would be working as an KNX-IP Router).

Ist zwar OT aber google maps mit Suchbegriff "Axel, Terneuzen, Niederlande" zeigt Dir wo es liegt. Südlich kurz hinter der belgischen Grenze.

Jaaaa, aber vorher stand nur "Axel" im Profil - und geb' das mal in Google Maps ein ... das hatte ich durchaus vorher ausprobiert. Der Nutzer hat sein Profil geändert, was ich sehr nett finde und weiss man halt, dass es tatsächlich eine Ort Axel gibt.

... wieder was gelernt ... und sei es "nur" Geographie
