HS/FS Usage of the HomeServer IP Ports

    Hello,

Can someone point me to a doc or explanation about the different ports used in a HS. (iETS and KO)
Specially, their main usage and with which other port should they match.
    Thanks for your help.

    IP Multicast: 224.0.23.12
    IP Port: 3671

    iETS
    IP-Port 1: 50000
    IP-Port 2: 50001
    IP-Port 3: 50002

    Portal Addr: homeserver.gira.de
    Portal PW: 00xxxxxxxx

    KO-gateway port: 7003
    KO-gateway pw: xxxxxxxx

IP Multicast = Connection with a Gira IP-Router (Connection with the Bus KNXnet/ip)
iETS = Connection for Programming over the HS - if you had an KNX-USB, you can connect with the ets over the network (EIb/lib)
Gira-Portal = remoteconnection from everywhere in the world
Ko-gateway = sending grup adresses to another device over the network.

    sry for my english :-)

      Hello,

Thank you for the information, I'm almost OK but still have some understanding questions

      -iETS
I have a HS and I use iETS since the beginning. All of a sudden, this setup doesn't work anymore.
I guess the address used in the ETS setup must match those defined in the Experte to connect. But, how to be sure ? reading the Experte source data is of no help because it could be that the running version and the Experte are not the same. I used a port scanner and found an entry at 7003. I'm confused: when to use the one or the other.
So far, I managed to get a mess. I've 3 PC going over the net via iETS, none works anymore

IP Multicast Connection with a Gira IP-Router (Connection with the Bus KNXnet/ip)
      IP Multicast i.e. 224.0.23.12

iETS Connection for Programming over the HS - if you have a KNX-USB, you can connect with the ETS over the network (EIb/lib)
      IP-Port 1 i.e. Control 50000
      IP-Port 2 i.e. Read 50001
      IP-Port 3 i.e. Write 50002

Gira-Portal Remote connection from everywhere in the world
      Portal Addr i.e. homeserver.gira.de
      Portal PW 00xxxxxxxx

KO-Gateway Sending group adresses to another device over the network.
      IP Port 3671

      KO-Gateway port 7003
      KO-gateway pw xxxxxxxx

I'm still puzzled about 3671 and 7003. If possible, a practical example would help specially the matching port numbers

Which version of ETS do you use?

          Hello !

I'm using 4.2 (lost the dongle) and 5.5.2
I don't know how come, but I ended up in a catastrophic situation where each machine has a problem.
For the moment, I'm trying to run ETS5, using the HS as gateway, but I don't see iETS as a choice, it is greyed out, although it works on 4.2
If you have a HS with iETS, which port are you using ?
          I don't see the RS232 port ... gone ?

For the ETS 5 its necessary to buy a App called Eiblib/IP. Only 50€ to get your function back...

Well, ETS5 will not allow you to set up an 'iETS' connection to the HS unless you purchased a separate license for that. When I switched from ETS4 to v5 I found out (but should already have known) that this connection option is greyed out if you do not have that license. For me it was not a problem, as I have an IP-Router in the system. Connect to a router and you should be good to go.

When I used ETS v4 then I used the standard ports (50000/50001/50002), which obviously need to be the same ports on the HS as in ETS.

What change did you make that it stopped working? If it was the switch to ETS5 then I can see the problem. If you still use ETS4, did it work before while you had the same configuration? Or were you on the local network only, and are now trying via the internet?

(I can't answer your RS232 question - I only used RS232 between a PC and the HS directly long ago for firmware upgrades)

                Grrrrr

                > Only 50€ to get your function back...
... and what about FT 1.2/RS232 ? same trick ?

I'm trying to install 5.5.2 on 2 other PCs, no way !
Install runs fine, no error. Starting ETS pops this message
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item
Again, 4.2 runs fine but 5.5.2, no go (on 2 different PC's)
After much reading, it looks like it is a Windows problem
                Any suggestion is welcome.

                Thanks for your help

RS232 is obsolete, and not longer supported.

                      > this connection option is greyed out if you do not have that license.
                      Too bad !
So "Tunneling" is the only "free" option (and routing)

                      > For me it was not a problem, as I have an IP-Router
I've 2xRS232, HS, eibd, N148, USB whereof only the N148 and USB are "nativ" supported, correct ?
If I remember well, eibd is the only one playing router (I should have bought a N146 instead of the N148 :-(
I'll try to make that beast fly again.

                      > If it was the switch to ETS5
                      Yes, good guess

                      > If you still use ETS4,
Yes, although I managed to loose the ET4 dongle in the move within the house. I hope I can buy it separately

                      > did it work before while you had the same configuration?
                      Yes

                      > Or were you on the local network only, and are now trying via the internet?
                      Mmmm, you lost me.
I work most of the time, on the local network, going out when needed but no relation with ETS.
Also, some weeks ago, I moved the whole net from 10.x.x.x to 192.168.x.x
It might be that some sequel are left over from before

                      Thanks again

With a working eibd is it possible to connect the HS to the KNX. Therefore you have to set your N148 as Interface in your eibd config. Enable Routing in the eibd parameters (-R) and it will work fine.

KNX offers a replacement for a lost dongle, from their site:
If your dongle needs to be replaced because of several reasons, e.g. lost, stolen or broken, then you have to contact us.
In case of a stolen or lost dongle, we will send you an offer, which you will have to accept and pay in order to receive your new dongle.
I think that is only possible if you did not use that dongle to purchase an upgrade to ETS5. And given the cost plus the expensive foreign shipping (~EUR35) you may be better off switching to v5.

My question about using ETS via the internet is that you then also need to have port 80 forwarded. But given that you changed your entire network chances are that the real issue about the error message is somewhere within your current network settings. A clue would be which action you take that causes the Windows error message to pop up.

Great ! Now, the trick is to get "a working eibd". It worked once, so I guess I can make it again :-)
