Hello,
I'll enjoy to write my own experience with Realknx V2, as an advanced end user point of view.
My device is a test/pre release device.
I originally own a RealKNX V1 (the Synology one).
Hardware:
The new device V2 is really a new device, nothing to do with V1, so i'ts a real performance upgrade.
The device is "based" on a famous Raspberry PI device, but with the enhancements added by RevPI.
This means:
1) DIN-RAIL mount (new form factor)
2) Broadcom BCM2837 (it's the new RevPI 3)
3) eMMC flash memory (that mean, that you do not have to worry about the lifespan of the SD Card, because it uses the eMMC memory !!)
4) Industrial design (reliable, made for heavy industrial usage)
This is clearly an industrial grade hardware, made for durability.
Software:
The same software mounted on RealKNX v1, but with more speed.
Node-RED with updated node.js framework (it works with the node-red plugin Sonospollytts). Node-Red is more responsive as well as node-red's dashboard.
Software updates are easy to enjoy, thanks to the Webmin control panel. This is a very useful addition, because with Webmin, proserv has simplified, for example, network's administration etc...
Swap from old to new device:
No-Brain swap between old and new RealKNX. Unplug the old device, plug the new device, you're done. Siri, Google, (cannot try Alexa)... all works.
RealKNX V2 is a "setup and forgot" device.
About Siri, Alexa & co. (all online services), i think that's something is happening @proserv, because of a leak i've heard about the implementation's testing of an offline open source speech recognition engine. I don't know what precisely it is, but i only know one open source speech recognition engine around...
