    Switching off the TV

    Hi guys,

Here i am again for your help and advice hope you will help me out again!!

One of my client wants to switch of his TV remotely.

His kids TV in there room he wants to switch it off remotely from his room right at the power socket. So that they cant switch it back on i.e the fuse spur that provides the power for the TV should be able to be turned on and off remotely.

This can be done visa knx or anything!!! i am just confused at how to
    a.remotely access a mains power.
b.How to turn it off and on?

any suggestions and ideas is more than welcome...

Thank you so much for the time

    cheers,
    vim

try it with IR-TRANS, this will emulate an Remote and you can control it with pc or eib.

    IRTrans Infrared Control System

      @TRex:

The power socket has to be wired to a KNX actuator
either straight (3 wires) to the distribution box, where the actuator sits and which is going to switch the live wire On/Off
or either you install a small (UP) actuator near the power socket. This implies running the KNX cable up to the socket

This requires some sort of KNX switch, located at the parent's room or other control place.

When the devices are in place, they are programmed with ETS and a "link" is made between the switch and the actuator. hence you can centrally switch On/off the TV

A KNX installation also requires a power-supply, an interface and a PC with ETS

          Thanks guys for the time,

T-rex Sorry but swiss is right. Thanks for the time though.

Warichet please tell me if i got this right,

so basically get the main power that's going into the socket back to EIB board, get a load switch connect it to that and then program any KNX switch to turn it on and off?

basically treat the TV as any main voltage lighting circuit? am i right in thinking that way?

Thanks again for the time and help guys, appreciate it and sorry i dont know german hence not replying back in german.

          Thank you,
          vim

But keep in mind: Kids are inventive You will have to switch off all power sources, that can be reached with the TV power chord.
Firma: Enertex Bayern GmbH, Ebermannstädter Straße 8, 91301 Forchheim
            Amazon: KNXnet/IP Router

              Absolutely !
With one major caution ! you have to use a SWITCHING actor (i.e. On/Off) not a Dimmaktor (graduation 0-100%)

              I think nobody minds.
As a non-german speaking, I feel here at home.... since many years.
