Hmm, lets see. If it wouldn't be something that ate >50% of the smartphone-market within a year, I'd laugh..
But, now, I'd say stay tuned

P.S.: Where is the App talking to eibd, ähmm in OSS if possible

Sure enough, it will have a serious impact on the domotic market.
The fact that it is based on a wireless protocol will exclude many people, including me ! (allergic to radio waves)

Das Unternehmen arbeitet bereits an einem neuen Protokoll, über das die Haushaltsgeräte mit der Android-Plattform kommunizieren.
I'm not sure what this means and how it is realized.
Firma: Enertex Bayern GmbH, Ebermannstädter Straße 8, 91301 Forchheim

The information is still scarce, hence difficult to have an opinion.

About protocol, it is: IEEE 802.15.4
About "server", it seems to be the "tungsten" box
Google is seriously pushing developpers to create new applications.

Where did you find that it is based on IEEE 802.15.4?

                  Here
Maybe the best thing is to go back to the original announcement during the Google I/O conference in San Francisco (sorry can't find it back)

                    Thumbs up for 802.15.4/6loWPAN!
This might trigger the needed "push" there (in terms of standards&development), it's IMHO "the richt thing" (C) as Ethernet is for wired as it's based on the same well-proven technologies..

@Warichet: these are very, very power-optimized gadgets usually, it's likely there is more waves in the air from the Accesspoint of the neighbour being 100m or the GSM-Mast 1km away..
And the good news is: if they mean the same 6loWPAN as I do: it's IP-based. Once the standards are out&established the media (air, copper) isn't relevant (this isn't the case right now! the upper layers are compared to KNX: fully missing)

                    Let's stay tuned..
