    Synco Living-What is it?

    Hi guys,

Basically I am a KNX installer. But have few retrofit projects where rewiring might not be the option hence would like to know about Siemens Synco living.the website does say it can do this and that BUT would like your opinion on it.

Fist of all i want to know how does the whole thing work ?

1.it says its all wireless does that mean it needs to be plugged into the network? zigbee ?

2.Are the controllers compatible with any type of lights and? ie if i have a led down lighters will they be compatible to the controllers? same with the blind motors?

3.How hard is the installtion ie if its a small house with gas central heating, blinds and some couple of ordinary lights how does one go about it?

4.What does the web-server do? how does that play a part?

5.What kind of switches are they, how do they talk to the main controller?

you must be confused, but basically what i want is if possible someone to just say what Synco living is what kind of controllers are used and how it works. i did read the website BUT its all said in a marketing perspective and one not to engineers. PLEASE PLEASE can some one help me .... really appreciate it please!

    Thank you

    Hi Vimal,

why don´t ask siemens in your country directly?

But here my explanation for you:

    1. The main controler (QAX9xx) con both technology´s KNX RF (Radio Frequenzy) and KNX wired. So all products are talking normaly by KNX RF to the main controler. The main controler himself is then wired connected to the KNX.
2.We use "Siemens Gamma Wave" - System for controling lights and blinds via RF (also is it possible to use HAGER KNX-RF components)
3.It is very easy and very fast
    4. Web Server is for external maintance
    5. Gamma wave is available as switch, dimmer and for blinds they ar "talking" by RF, aso you can use normal wired knx components

Please ask your local Siemens Headquater (Control Products and Systems).http://www.industry.siemens.co.uk/buildingtechnologies/uk/en/Pages/home.aspx
    Have a look at:
Home automation system Synco living - - Siemens

not all the latest features in this one:

well well, but the web server can be used for a little more stuff than just external maintenance. It sends alarms to my phone when someone tries to break in, when there is a fire alarm etc. And I can switch on the heating, control the ventilation, the blinds and so on. But I agree: it seems sometimes as if siemens meant it to be for maintenance only. But you can have very nice looks on the server website, too. Just search this forum for "synco" and you will find more ;-)
