    Sensor for natural gas

    Hi.

I need a natural gas leak sensor (to connect to a binary input) - ceiling install.
I have looked and looked... but found nothing. Any suggestion?

    Thanks.

User 'Redstar' uses Indexa GA 133, maybe you want to talk to him. It senses natural gas, Erdgas, if mounted near ceiling.

      Hi kropfm,

      Thanks again for your response.
From what I've read in the post you mentioned the options are:

-Indexa GA 80: looks ugly as hell, needs external power (either 230 or 12v)
-ABB gas sensor: was mentioned but I didn't find any info
-Honeywell (ex-Novar, ex-EffEff): also didn't find any info
-Jablotron GS-133: looks decente, also needs external power

So, I already have two options
My ideal was something similar to a smoke detector which could be powered up by a 9v battery but I guess there isn't any. So... I need to replan my wiring to feed 230 or 12v to the ceiling

      Any more options?

      Thanks!

        Well....found the ABB one:

looks exactly what I wanted: powered by the bus, looks decent.

Attention! This sensor has no KNX interface!
It can be powered by 10 to 30V DC or 24V AC but needs up to 80mA, much to much for the KNX bus.
I don't know, why you can find the key word EIB in the documentation, but in a German one:
          http://www.mittermeier-alarm.de/down...htgebunden.pdf
you can find the information, that this sensor shall be used with a
ABB burglar alarm system and can be used stand alone since it has a potential free relay output.

            Tessi,

            thanks for the warning!
But... correct me if I am wrong: although it has no KNX interface, I can power it via the KNX bus, right? (using the white and yellow connectors)

not by the KNX bus, but by a separate power supply, SELV, using the two spare wires (yellow and white).

                Exactly! Thanks

Note: To have the state of this sensor on the bus, you need a KNX interface. Either you mount that close to the sensor - that may look ugly if you can not hide it somewhere, or you need additional 2 lines to connect the relay output to the interface, and red/black and yellow/white are already in use (bus and supply)...

                    Tessi,

Yes, I know. I already have that covered
                    Thanks.
