Need help with KNX and Loxone in the United States

    Hi:

I have installed KNX Sentido capacitance switches with integrated temperature. Three years ago I purchased a Loxone home automation system and KNX switches. However, before the installation was completed, my installer was diagnosed with a brain tumor. He closed his business and did not complete the installation.

I have had to teach myself about KNX, ETS 5 and Loxone and was able to get some of the switches working. No one on this side of the Atlantic seems to know anything about KNX. I have tried to watch or read everything out there. I have even watched German youtube videos with english closed captioning.

It has been explained that I should stick with Loxone for control and only use ETS5 for KNX configuration. Loxone recognizes the group addresses and shows communication in the EIB monitor. I am including screenshots of the EIB monitor and of my system. In Loxone, I have created an EIB sensor for each temperature KNX device. It doesn't appear that the KNX switches are properly configured in ETS5.

In ETS 5, I have configured the four capacitance sensors with individual addresses and the temperature sensor. The data type is set at 9.027 Temperature Sensor, Fahrenheit for each room. I am having problems getting proper temperature values from the integrated thermostats. Loxone always reads the temperature as 5 degrees celsius.

I terribly frustrated and feel a bit overwhelmed. I know that there are small mistakes being made but without the experience, I don't know where. My wife is really frustrated. We have lived in our house for almost 2 years and we still can't turn on our lights with the app. I appreciate everyone's help from the forum. This has been a difficult project which I never expected to have to do myself.

    David

its generally not the best idea to put a loxone server in a knx installation. do you have other loxone components installed in your house? at least the basalte sensors are native knx components...

Thank you for responding. The Loxone server is the controlling home automation system. I am only using KNX to operate the light switches.

The switches are working with the Loxone system. My problem is with the temperature sensors in the switches. When we built the house we installed an active damper system for our heating and cooling. Each room has a light switch which should be able to sense the temperature in the room. The Loxone server would then control the room damper and manage the room temperature. However, without a proper temperature reading, I can't control anything.

There must be a problem in my KNX setup with the temperature sensor but I don't know what I did wrong. Any other forum comments are appreciated.

Do you see the 2/0/4 telegrams in the group monitor?
The group address is linked to device 1.1.7, but you show us the configuration of device 1.1.13. How is the sensor configuration of 1.1.7?

Try to reparameter just one knx switch and one group adress for the temperature. Maybe there is a proble with fahrenheit so use everywhere °C for testing. Start with the parameter of the sentido device and finish with assoziate it with a fresh group address. Leave the default Datatype of the Group address (I guess 9001) and programm the sentido device

USE the ETS Group Monitor to find out more details

Hi David, welcome to the KNX User Forum.
If you like, you could oben up the „private notes/messages“, then we could send you some information directly.
              Regards, Florian

                Hello to Everyone!

I really appreciate all of the assistance in English. My late father, Siegfried (Fred) was born in Koln. Unfortunately, he never taught us German. The only German we learned was how to sing Auf de Mauer, Auf de Lauer. 😀

I will work on the suggestions and report again in the forum. Thank you again.

P.S. Florian, I changed the PM settings.

                    Hi,

As requested, I logged into ETS 5 and printed out the parameters for device 1.1.7.

P.S. Florian, I will try again.

If I'm not blind (I was checking quickliy a project that contains Sentido's), the Basalte Sentido only offers temperature values in Celsius degrees and no Farenheit. The correct data type for temperature in Celsius is 9.001.

in the ETS on the page "Temperature sensor" set sending to "cyclic" and the value to "1". Then program the Sentido.

After this, you should see in the ETS group monitor every 20 seconds the group address 2/0/4 showing you the measured temperature value.
When you need the temperature information in Farenheit, you have to convert all temperature information in your green server box.

If it is the Fahrenheit Issue, just add a formula function block with I1*1,8+32 in it (dubblecklick the funktion block to insert the formula)

                          All,

I will try your suggestions when I return from work this evening.

Its hard to understand your Skills Level. If you get stuck you may contact me by private message for a tighter connection.

(It was needed to change my former account "sleis")

                              All:

Thank you for your suggestions. I would suggest my KNX skill level is quite low. My training consists of running the tutorials on ETS.

Last night I ran a diagnostic and the pages are attached. I learned that I have not programmed the group objects for the switches correctly in ETS5. I presume this relates to how a telegram is sent and received. I would appreciate if someone could assist me with my errors.
