    Load a dummy device (2byte --> 1-bit GA)

    Hi

I would like to add a dummy participant to my installation so that I can display the current temperature of a room on an (old) LCD display (which in this case complements a wall thermostat) that uses 1-bit objects, as suggested by the manual:

"The 9 objects are assigned 1-bit group addresses. To display floating point (2-byte) as well as 6 and 10-character telegrams at the display unit appropriate "Dummy devices“ must be added to the respective lines (e.g. to the floating point telegrams of the brightness controller)." https://cache.industry.siemens.com/d...0101_apb_e.pdf

I manage to add a dummy device from the catalog (large dummy from Gira) but I don't know how to (down)load it into my installation. I don't have a coupler.

Do you know how can I proceed?

    Thanks!

If you don‘t have seperate KNX Lines with a linecoupler, you don‘t need the dummy device. A dummy can not be programmed and does not do anything like data transformation. The only task is to tell the ets to put the neccessary groupe objects into the filter table of the coupler.

      Thanks for your reply.

I'm a bit stuck with this display.

If I try to add the temperature group address of my KNX thermostat, I get the following error:
"The group address '0/3/7 Current temperature' cannot be linked with the group object '1: Status 1: General parameters '. The object size differs."

The 8 objects of the display are all 1bit objects...

Do you have any idea what I could do to have the temperature displayed?

      Thanks

      Frédéric

I have no idea, how the temperature can be displayed with bit objects. It will not work without any external logic.

I think you first have to program the device with the Siemens tool mentioned in the pdf. If you can only display fixed messages or even can display random numbers I don‘t know. You should have a look into the programming tool and then perhaps you find a way to display your values.

I would not invest much time in a 20 year old out of date sensor but rather by a cheap modern display/switch.

You need the tool from Siemens. The tool is called ANZPROG.

Problem is this tool does not work on new computers.

You can find the tool here.

Remove .pdf at the end of the file.

            Thanks,
I'm able to make the Siemens "Display unit tool" app work on a Windows 10 Pro computer. The hardest part is to install the Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1. but there are tutorials out there.
Unfortunately, my gateway (EIBPort v3) is not found. I get the following error:
            Capture DUT.png
Do you have any idea what I can do?
            Thanks

With the ETS does the EIB Port work as an IP interface?
