Philips HUE + KNX in a single Node-Red's node. New from KNX-Ultimate.

    Hi.
I'm integrating Philips Hue with KNX, in a single node.
    Hue Light is done.

    Hi,
i just wanted to test your HUE integration. But i get an error when trying to add my hue bridge. I click on Connect, press the button on hue bridge an click OK.
    image.png

    NodeRED Version v3.0.2
    node-red-contrib-knx-ultimate 2.1.14
Software of the HUE bridge (the square one) 1.58.1958077010
NodeRED runs as docker Container on a Synology

HUE Bridge and Synology are in the same network. I'm able to ping my HUE bridge from the docker container.

In nodeRED i use hueMagic node to connect my KNX system with HUE lights. Perhaps this is the problem?

What else can i check? Would be nice if i could get rid of my KNX <-> HueMagic flows.

Thank You for your great work on KNX Ultimate!!!

      Hi
Error 429 means too many requests.
Hue magic uses the v1 api, thus id polls the bridge for events. Hue bridge has a limit of 10 requests per second. Try to temporary disable the hie magic config node.

        Mhh...

I deleted HUEmagic completely but still no success. But now there is another error in the log:

        image.png

Interesting is that i don't know where the IP 192.168.178.112 comes from.
My HUE-Bridge IP is 192.168.1.104 and my Synologys IP is 192.168.1.14.

When i paste the url with corrected IP in my browser i get following answer from my HUE bridge:
        Code:
        {"name":"Philips hue","datastoreversion":"158","swversion":"1958077010","apiversion":"1.58.0","mac":"00:17:88:26:f2:04","bridgeid":"001788FFFE26F204","factorynew":false,"replacesbridgeid":null,"modelid":"BSB002","starterkitid":""}

        Any further ideas?

          Hi
manually put the bridge IP you into the hue node config IP field and retry with connect…
Auto discovery may be messed up by something

            Hi Poeschie
            Have you solved the issue?
            Do you need further assistance?

Yesterday evening i tried your advice to put in the right HUE bridge IP directly but it did not work. I can't remember the errors i got. I will deliver a documentation of the error messages this weekend.

              Thank you!

If you've access to the username used by HueMagic, you can use it for KNX-Ultimate as well.
Just put the IP and the bridge's username (or key, whatever hue magic names it).

                  Hi,

i have got a similar problem with nearly the same behaviour.
Auto discovery didn´t work for me too ( same network error like Poeschie, tried to connect to 192.168.178.x - my Network isn´t 192.168.172.x), so i tried to put in the Hue bridge IP manually - didn´t work also.
Next step was to install HueMagic, connect to the bridge (worked first try), get the bridge´s username and remove HueMagic again.
Typed in IP and username in the configuration node and... it worked, i got displayed my hue lights and could establish a connection knx <-> Hue - but only for this light.
In a second node with the same knx and hue gateway i´m not able to connect to the lights - everytime i get the same error message:
"Errore KNXUltimateGetResourcesHUE non gestito Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'getResources')"

Neither if i c&p the working node, nor if i try to change the light in that one - i cant connect to a hue light (same error message)

Thank you Max for your excelent work on KNX-ultimate.

(Sorry for my bad english, i hope you can understand what i´m saying....)

                      Hi all,
                      Please update to node-red-contrib-knx-ultimate@2.1.15
You must now manually set the bridge IP, then click to "CONNECT".

                        Hey,

this looks pretty good. First tests were successfull.
I had to restart Node-Red two or three times, because the configuration node couldn´t read the properties from the bridge, but thats all.
I will take a deeper look in the next days and report here.

Thank you for your quick response, enjoy the rest of your holidays!

                          Hi,

with your update i was able to connect my HUE bridge via the config node. Because i had no time I haven't tested to control a HUE Lamp by now, but i was able to find all of my HUE Lamps.

Thank you very much for your great work!

                            Hi Max,

I hope you're still reading this forum

I installed KNX Ultimate for the first time yesterday and was basically baffled how easy it was to get it working.
                            Installed - configured - worked.
                            Amazing job on that!

There is one thing though that does not behave as I'd like it to...
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if that's the way it is right now. That's why I'm asking here.

I have to start by saying that I mainly want to use the HUE integration and that I use white ambiance (tunable white) and color ambiance (RGBCCT) HUE lights.

I'm having problems when I use KNX Ultimate together with the Philips HUE App.
(And that's basically what I want to do...)
The switch on behavior of the lights is strange when I use both KNX and the app.
This is connected to the 'switch on brightness' setting.

                            Here are my thoughts:

                            a) I find it strange to use RGB instead of the native HSB format.
I get that in the KNX world RGB is probably easier to handle. So maybe that's just me being used to HSB.
It would be great though if there was the possibility to choose the format.
It would also be great to be able to use the 'color temperature' setting for white ambiance AND color ambiance lights.

                            b) For the 'switch on brightness' setting neither YES nor NO does work to my liking...
For the color ambiance lights I can set RGB values. But I'd rather like them to switch on with a color temperature setting instead of an RGB color.
I have not been able to successfully 'simulate' a warm white with RGB values...
For the white ambiance lights there is no other setting then YES or NO.
When choosing YES the lights will always switch on with full brightness when I use a KNX button no matter to what brightness the light was set before.
When choosing NO the lights will always switch on with a dim value of 1% when I switch them on in the HUE app AFTER I used a KNX button. When I re-set the brightness in the app and only use the app to switch on and off it works but only until I use a KNX button again. Then it's back to 1% in the app.

As I said maybe I'm doing something wrong. In that case I'd be grateful for any hint

                            Best regards.

                              Hi Banzai

About point A: yes, i know, there are more things to implement. I wait the feedback from users like you, prior to start implementing missing features, because i own other nodes as well and my time is limited.

About point B: this is a known issue. In latest firmare, the HUE Bridge sends back a switch off and dim 0% as light state. Prior to this firmware, only the switch off info was sent back. This issue should be resolved latest tomorrow.
