    KNX/EIB Weather Station

    Hi.

I've just installed a weather station.
I've already connected two 4...20ma sensors (brightness and temperature) but I have some doubts about the rain and wind sensors.

The wind sensor I have only has a 2-pin output. I guess I have to get one with a 4...20ma or 0-10v output, right?

The rain sensor I have has a 24v input for power and a 2-pin contact that is shorted when it rains. Can I connect this to the weather station? Or the rain sensor also needs to have special output? Well....I can always connect this to a binary input in that case.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

it'll be much easier for us to help you if you provide the vendor and the model of your weather station

      2ndsky,

      Hehehe. I completely forgot.

My Weather Station is a Merten 682991:

      This is the rain sensor:

You could connect the rain sensor to a normal binary input for the detection of rain/snow instead of the weather station. I have no idea if you can use your wind sensor with your station.

          Thanks

I guess I'll connect it and see what happens

well, the weather station comes with one digital input:

            Sensoreingänge
            Anzahl: 4x analog, 1x digital

And there is a communication object for rain and that's a 1 bit value, so I suppose there's a way to use a rain sensor with a digital output.

            Niederschlag Kombisensor 1 Bit 1.001 K,Ü

The documentation of your wind sensor is not very coherent.

              kropfm,

Thanks. I'll have to check that digital input.

About the wind sensor... all the documentation I've found online isn't very helpful:

              http://descargas.futurasmus-knxgroup...73ab_1_tpi.pdf

              http://support.automation.siemens.co...73ab_1_bma.pdf

What gives me a little hope is that I've found 2 KNX related sites with info on this sensor:

KNXshop - ***DISCONTINUED*** SIEMENS S258/02 Wind rotor (heated) (5WG1 258-7AB02) from SIEMENS

              Thanks again.

                Just an update on this:

I've connected the rain sensor to a binary input.
I've connected the wind sensor but I can't get any value from it.

Now I have a third problem

My temperature sensor is not giving any values. I suspect I connected it wrong.
What is the proper way of connecting a 4...20ma sensor to a weather station?

The sensor only has 2 pins: + and -
It should connected in a loop.

I've connected the + to the 24v + and the - to the Kx input of the weather station. Do I need to link the Kx to the - output?

                Thanks.
