KNX/EIB [Newbie] How to read temperatures?

    Hi.

I am programming my KNX installation and I am beginning to work with temperatures.
In most case I had no problem: temperature objects were available.
However I have 3 rooms with underfloor heating that I've installed a temperature probe (Gira 1493 00) connected to a Theben TA4 binary input/push button module.

The problem is that I can't read any temperature from the device. I always get 0. I've already set the device to switch/push button with temperature value as the object type (2-byte).

What am I doing wrong? Shouldn't I be able to read the temperature from the 'Channel x temperature' object?

    Thanks.

    Regards,
    Mike

    Dear Mike,

maybe I don't understand every detail, but you didn't expect a binary input which is connected to a NTC thermal probe to give analoge values ... did you?

    Cheers,

    Stefan

      lobo,

      Thanks for your reply.
      I guess I did (stupidly)

So my question now is... how can I read them? What should I connect them to to get their temperature on the bus?

      Thanks.

One suggestion would be a Zennio Quad ... this should be working (but please double-check).

Forgive me my ignorance....but what is the point of having these temperature option on these devices? What temperature does the 'Channel x Temperature" should send?

I also have some Hager and ABB binary inputs with the same temperature options. What for?

          Thanks

            Dear Mike,

you can use this function to send e.g. setpoint values to external temperature controller. In the parameter setting you can define which value should be send on raising / falling edge.

            Best regards,
            Tino

              Tinos,

              Thanks.

Is there anything cheaper than the Zennio Quad? Something with only 1 analog input?
