    Cost effective web visualisation

    Hi all,

I need to add a very inexpensive web vis to an installation.

We have 2 functions that are needed to be accessed and controlled (clicked) from a computer in an office that is far away away from the controlled building which will control a couple of global functions but is on the ethernet network.

The openRB logicmachine is the perfect solution but is overpriced and overpowered for this use.

Any suggestions? I only need a couple of simple buttons, accessible either via an ip address and a simple web vis server

    OR

a simple bit of software (preferably free) that runs on the maintenance computer and can either broadcast over KNX/IP via routing/tunneling (preferably tuneling as I have a spare IP Interface)

    Any help much appreciated.

    Hi,

I'm pretty sure there is a Buch oft solutions...
Assuming you have a TCP gateway, you could use eibd in connection with fhem running on a computer somewhere in the network.
If you use smartvisu, you'll find a lot of data and information in this forum!

Thanks for the help, I've had a look at the smart visu but as a professional I would rather stick with a commercial solution (though for my home I would probably use this).

I know there are many bits of software designed for BMS solutions that broadcast over knx/ip (netXautomation is one, but that works on tunnelling - which is preferable in this application - but hugely over-featured and expensive for a cost-effective solution) and I'm surprised that there aren't more.

There are a bunch of iPhone applications that are free for limited data points which would be ideal (if iPhone was the intended device) such as house in hand, aycontrol, openremote etc. however I need one that I would be happy handing over to a client (and not one that I need to tinker with).

I don't get the point. Why do you not want to use a free version. Is licensing a problem or what the customer might think?
Otherwise I recommend Gira Homeserver. The price is similar to other computers and so it should be easy to discuss. You need a specialized server, you have to pay for a specialized server :-)

The cheapest commercial solution i know is the WireGate (WireGate Home page). Contact StefanW for further information. You only need a IP Router or free IP Tunneling connection on installation side.

On other hand a free solution could save more money (smarthome.py,fhem,openhab).
          Umgezogen? Ja! ... Fertig? Nein!
          Baustelle 2.0 !

Hi, I'm not hung up on the 'free' aspect, but I just need such a basic functionality from the system, the best equivalent I could think of was the free version of the apps which only support a handful of GAs - and in this case I only need 2!

I have a multitude of gateways and mini web servers on my desk, however we would only be using a fraction of what they offer. There's so little demand for what I'm after, the most suitable thing I can think of would be a free version that comes with limited functionality combined with an IP interface, of which I have 2 spare!

if it costs 100€ then it's €100 euros well spent!

            edit:

and yes, I would love nothing more than to give a full blown HS to the installation but again, there's sadly no call for it.

(I'd include one in every installation if I could!)
