    KNX/EIB corridor problem by KNX

    Hi guys,

I have a site scenario I have to fix using KNX devices.
Could anybody tell me how can I solve this situation using any KNX devices combination:

"I have 4 different rooms which they share the same corridor as their access to outside. I have a motion sensor in each room and few lights in corridor which I would like to be controlled by all of the motion sensors in all 4 rooms. It should turn off only if there is not any motion in all 4 rooms, otherwise it should be on."

I am not really about the device, the motion sensor can be a binary switch in each room, my main problem is the way I can imlement logical operation (or any other standard functions) using KNX devices.
We call this a "corridor scenario" in our lighting system. I am wondering if native KNX functionality can solve this problem or not and how.
I appreciate any reply to my problem.

    cheers,

Hi hassan, nice to join this forum! There are different solutions to solve your problem. The Solutions depends on your kind of motion sensors. On the one hand you can use a simple "OR" Logik, where Sensor 1 OR Sensor 2 OR... triggers your corridor light. On the other hand, some Products have more than one object for using the motion sensor. So you can use some parts turning the roomlights on and off and configuring another part for master-slave configuration to control your corridor - where the master controls the duration of lightning and it will be triggert by the slaves when motion is detected in the other rooms. yours martin

Thanks martin for your reply, what I am actually looking for is the way I can implement any kind of logic fuction (or any other type of function) in any KNX device. Let's say instead of motion sensor I have a simple on/off KNX switch. can I implement the OR-logic inside any of the KNX device? Does KNX has this kind of basic function built in? some sort of user application , I can add in?

For your solution one where is the OR logic located?
For solution two how can I implement the master slave configuration using KNX devices?

I am new in KNX/EIB world, I can configure and link the KNX devices using group addresses but and set the device parameters (device specific), but I do not know any other way to change the application inside the device. I am using ETS3 professional and few simens devices for my test platform.

        Hi Hassan,

some of the KNX devices have some "built-in" logic functions, but usually they are pretty simple and they are already built in, it's not possible to add it afterwards.

If you are using a panel there should be some logic available, if you need more "advanced" logic you need some further devices or you are going to use HS3, Eisbär, eibPort........
        Meine Installation:
        - B.IQ & B.IQ-RTR
        - Theben Wetterstation
        - eibPort 2.1
        - Gamma wave
        - Dreambox 7020Si

There might be another (cheaper) solution applicable for your requirement, a so called "logic module".

Logic modules are DIN rail mounted devices for insertion in the distribution board. The connection to the EIB is carried out via a bus connecting terminal.

The logic module is used in more complex EIB installations in order to
create special logic operations between sensors and actuators. Most of them provide AND, OR, etc. logic functions. So in your case this would probably be all you need, i.e. a logical OR of all four motion sensors...

However, as I am pretty new to this stuff myself, you'll better let one of the experts comment on using logic modules.

          Hope this helps...
          Viele Grüße,
          Markus

Basically this should be no problem with most current KNX presence detectors without external any logic(-module) needed, as all better models I know have some Master/Slave logic and interlock (?Sperre) function which should do what you want.
If you have some specific vendor/model in mind, we could see further..
