Hello JT,
of course the TP-UART got some drawbacks, too.
But as a matter of fact you won't be able to handle the
CSMA/CA by means of a standard UART and the FZE1066.

Thank you for your reply.
I agree with you when you say that TP-UART can handle all the arbitration issues on the medium. But I think it's important to note that in paragraph 3.2.1 of the TP-UART datasheet, it is written that in some cases TP-UART can't transmit the telegrams faults to the host-controler. And the host-controler has to handle the faults by it self.
But the cases where this configuration works are not clearly defined in the datasheet. It's a pity because it involves the role of TP-UART in the Data Link layer.
Best regards, JT

Hello JT,
you can't simply attach an FZE1066 to a standard UART.
For many reasons....
But you can and should do so with the TP-UART since it
can handle all the arbitration issues on the medium.
I think you should study the datasheets again to find out
the tremendous differences by yourself.

TP-UART vs FZE 1066
Hello everybody !
First I'm sorry, I don't speak German.
I study the different BAU solutions for KNX TP1 bus.
Could someone tell me what TP-UART can bring higher relative to FZE 1066, since KNX bus telegrams are composed of UART characters ?
I mean as the telegrams of the KNX bus are made of UART characters at 9600 bauds, it should be possible to link the FZE 1066 output to a UART input of a host-controler. TP-UART isn't indispensable to make this link, you agree ?
So what are the main differences between TP-UART and FZE 1066.
Thank you in advance for your replies.
JT
