Hi there,

Has anyone have any experiance with this device?
ENTTEC - OPEN DMX ETHERNET

I would like to use this device with homesever,
any help before i buy this.

Creating a HS logic module for Artnet and/or ESP would be usefull, any volenteers ?

Hi Mike,

We spoke about Art-Net, the protocol maintained by Artistic License in the UK, but there is also another called Enttec Show Protocol (ESP) which our ODE can support too.

There is an organization called the Art-Net consortium made up of the hundreds of developers and manufacturers whose products conform to Art-Net. We don't have any say in what it contains, not do we host documents about it, but a quick google search on the term should get you what you need. For ESP we do maintain it and this is the link. (Art-Net is much more popular but otherwise both are pretty similar from a programmer's point of view.)

We don't have an DLL as they really provide no help in dealing with ESP or ArtNet.
Both protocols are very simple and it's just a matter of sending a UDP packet onto the network, which .NET based apps can do easily.

In our experience people who have used a DLL or Library very quickly go back and write their own code as it's just a quick as figuring out how the
DLL works (sorting through bugs) and they get much better control.

We have some C structures you can use for ESP packets if that helps, and can review some code if you are having problems.

You also don't need to order your hardware right away in order to check your output, as Wireshark will decode ESP packets and allow you to debug your project.

Thx for reply,this is very usefull.
My question is can i use homeserver as sequencer for DMX,i'm usualy using DMX sequencer from INSTA and triggering sequences from KNX side.
There is sequencer logic(for DALI or 1-10V) for HS but it uses value sent to the right RGB channel not a DMX telegrams.

Some experiance in this would help a lot.

I don't have experience with DMX or ArtNet, I'm trying to figure it out, and I am seriously planning to buy a ip.DMX gateway and develop a logic module.
But i wouldnt'wait for that to finish if I where you ;-)

Basicly the HS has to send IP datagrams to the gateway with the right content. For this I have to dive into the ArtNet specifications
