    Schneider/Merten MTN 649325

    Hello,

This dimmer is rated 4x250W Halogen and Incadecent lamp. It's not rated at all for LED.
Will it be possible to ut Retrofit LED bulbs with it? GU10 or E27 Retrofit LED.

I have seen that there another dimmer: MEG6710-0004, this one is also 4x250W but also rated for LED lamps, not just Halogen/Incadecent.

The thing is, I have the first one and want to be able to run Retrofit LED lamps. Will it work? Do you guys have any experience?

    Regards
    Mani

This is the LED-lamps I'm thinking about.
And according to this PDF it should work with conventional glow-dim for incadecent and halogen lamps.
That's why I think it might work with the MTN649325, am I right?
    The dimmer is marked R-L-C

        Hi!

Why don't you just give it a try? Usually retrofit LEDs are quite cheap.
Since the dimmer is not rated for LED usage, you might run into various difficulties, some of which are optical annoyances (e.g. flickering) and unwanted noise (both, emitted by the dimmer or the LEDs).

Due to their high switch-on current using LEDs with your dimmer might severely limit the number of lamps it can drive.

But even dimmers that are rated for LED usage can face these problems - so basically it's up to you to test various combinations to ensure they suit your needs.

In fact, I recently tested the combination of a MEG6710-0004 and various retrofit LEDs (Osram and Philips) and was not satisfied with the results. But this is a highly subjective and individual opinion...

        Greetings

        Nico
