    KNX/EIB Garage door

First of all, sorry for the english. But as said before me, this is actually the best forum you can find even if you are outside DE...
Second, sorry for what could be a stupid question. I'm just an KNX enthusiast (in the sense that deciding to install KNX in my house, in Italy, it's like a CRUSADE: everybody is trying to make me step back...).
    Third: the point:
I have an automated garage door (BPT drive) that has a blank contact (bridge 3-4) that if "closed" with a simple wire, will activate cyclically START-STOP-REVERSE.
I'm trying to use an actuator MDT AKU1616, to close this contact. If I set the exit as "switch impulse" (500ms), it will START the gate opening. But to have a further "action" I have to press the linked button again to "open" the contact, and another time to send a new signal.
I'm sure a lot of people has already done it, any suggestion?

    Thanks in advance,
    Luca

Hi Luca, welcome to the forum, and best wishes for the new year. First wish: make the garage door 'listen' to the actor.

What you describe is what works for me. I have a garage door opener (Marantec) that has a contact for start/stop/reverse. I use a KNX actor (a Gira 1036-00) that does not have a 'switch impulse' option, so I use the staircase function (set at the minimum time, which is 1 second). It does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Since it does not yet work for you, I suggest you first do some troubleshooting without the actor. Connect a pushbutton to bridge 3-4 of that opener, or any other means to make sure that you can short the bridge briefly. A short push (and subsequent release) of the button then should make the door move. Within a second or two again do a short push/release. If the door movement immediately stops, then the bridge does what is stated (start/stop/reverse). If the second push/release does not do anything, and you need to repeat that action, then the behavior of the door opener is different from what you expect. If so, the MDT actor has the option to automatically repeat the pulse once, after for instance .5 sec. In that case: problem solved.

If the manual test shows that the bridge contact of the door opener indeed reacts with start/stop/reverse, then you need to take a closer look at how you configured the actor. It could be that the 500ms is too long or too short. You may want to try first to reduce the pulse time to 300ms, see what that does for you.

      Hello Bram,
thanks for your hint: I will try that as soon as I can and let you know.
I wish you a happy new year!

Actually my error was to activate it manually from the MDT actuator.
Putting a button in the game, made it working (the "release" re-open the dry contact...)

Thanks for the help, joined brainstorming is always more efficient.
