    Gira X1 and multicast packets

    Hello,

I have Gira X1 as my home server, I wanted to add some Tasmota flashed wifi relay switches, they support KNX with multicast, I was able to confirm the packets are sent over the network via wireshark. But it seems Gira X1 ignores the traffic completely. The packets don't show in ETS diagnostics either. Right now the device physical address is 1.1.3, but if I read correctly - for multicast to work it should be running as IP Router not as IP interface. I was not able to give it 1.0.0 address (if I understand correctly this is what marks the device as router?) in the ETS.

The X1 doesn't have router capabilities. You'd need a dedicated device for that.
Or some software that provides it.

Ok, so I could use something like knxd as a multicast relay from the host that runs nodered to X1 via interface tunnel?
But am I understanding correctly that its normal for X1 to not pick up multicast packets?

        Yes it's normal.

Not sure what role NodeRed plays here, but if you are already running it you may use a different protocol (MQTT or whatever Tasmota supports) to communicate from Tasmota to NodeRed and from there do Knx Tunnelling.

        Otherwise use Calimero or knxd.
