KNX/EIB 80 devices in main line

I am implementing my KNX project. I have about 84 devices am I'm experiencing difficulties changing the programming of some devices, sometimes...
I divided the main line and used a repeater between the lines, two PSU and two chokes. The only connection between lines is the repeater.
All devices are in the same main line (1.0.x). repeater is 1.0.1. All were preprogrammed before comissioning. Mostly, functions work on site but have been having serious trouble when downloading applications to some of the devices and some devices do not even respond sometimes.

My question is: Is this topology wrong? The standard states no repeaters on main line... May this be the problem?

What options do I have with 80 devices and one repeater/coupler? Is there a way or do I need extra couplers?

Repeaters in the main line are indeed not allowed.
You could make the repeater a line coupler 1.x.0 and change the address of all devices on the (now) sub-line accordingly.

I will do that and hope it is indeed the source of all programming issues.
So: 1.0.x Main line: PSU + choke; 1.1.x sub line: coupler +PSU+ choke
This way I have all devices necessary
