Hi,
First excuse me for writing English on a German forum but my written German is really bad and this forum seems to be the best information place on KNX on the web.
I’m new to KNX and I want to install KNX Automation in my new building (Single home). I have read a book on KNX and read everything I can find about KNX on the web. But a few questions remain open.
How does Line Segments work? According to my understanding a TP 1 64 Line only supports 64 addresses but a can be split in 4 segments (3 repeaters) to support 256 addresses (252 none infrastructure addresses per line). And TP 1 256 should not be used because of compatiblity issues.
Does the repeater translate addresses so that 64 becomes 1 in that segment and reverse when sending back or do all nodes support 256 addressing?
If no translation happens what is the difference between TP1 64 and 256 then?
Does an IP Gateway (Area, Line configuration) support segmenting?
(Everything I can find only mention 63 nodes but I assume that segmenting is possible)
Should the lines be spilt according to type (Heating, Ventilation, Light, Sensors etc.) or should everything be on one line if possible?
Is there any way to simulate and monitor bus load to avoid overloading a line?
Should complex logic be implemented on a PC server or with logical modules?
Thanks and feel free to answer in German as my verbal German is ok.
