Gira door communication

Hi everybody.

I need some help about the Gira Door Communication system.
I was following a discussion in this forum but I am afraid I became a little lost with too many technical stuff in German

So, I am asking here for some help in English.

Here is what I have:

1 Electric front door
1 Electric gate
1 Electric garage door
2 Electric backdoors

I also want to be able to:

-Arm/disarm the Alarm (KNX) with Gira's Keyless in devices.
-Feed 12v to my whole house audio system to mute the sound when someone is at the door.
-Open all electric doors with Keyless in devices.

So, for a fully functional system this is the setup I planned:

For 'normal' operation:
- 1 Video control center
- 1 Videoterminal (main floor)
- 2 home stations (basement and upper floor)
- 1 Door station with camera

For the extras I need:
- 2 Keyless in fingerprint readers
- 2 Keyless in code keyboard
- 6 additional actuators for the doors/alarm/audio
- 1 additional power supply to feed all this.


So far so good. But now come the problems:
How can I connect the door communication bus to my KNX bus? I want to be able to open all doors in the KNX visualization panel.
I also want to know when some door was opened to perform additional functions (light, etc)
How can I connect the actuator for the alarm to the KNX bus? Through a binary input?
I see that the actuators have a binary input. Should I connect it to a KNX binary output?
Will I solve this with the TKS IP gateway? I still haven't seen info on this.

you will be able to realize your ideas with the TK-IP-Gateway in connection with the Gira-Homeserver.
But the Gateway will be available soonest in April 2011.

Yes, I already saw this later last year. It started stating it would be available in January but I guess they pushed it to April.

What I would like to see is technical info A manual or similar.
Also in the price it has several 'licenses'. What are licenses here?

as I already wrote there is actually no manual or further documentation available for the IP-Gateway.
But on Gira DCS-IP-gateway you will find that his ideas could be realized in connection with HS/FS

AFAIK there will be different licences for the maximum number of clients connected to the gateway.

How do you want to control the Gateway by IP only? As I understand your plan you want to connect the doorcom to your KNX?

Yes I do. But I am planning of using different software for control. Let's wait for the manual to see if it can be done.

Hi all.

I need to get back to this as I will be installing it very soon.

So, re-checking: I need to control 5 doors with Gira's door communication system + KNX. I do not want to use the TKS-IP Gateway. It's expensive and does not add much to my requeriments.

So, I was thinking in doing this:

- Connect all 5 door openers to a KNX binary input module. Then I would activate the door opener with KNX, feeding 12v/24v to the corresponding door opener.

Can this be done?
