    KNX/EIB KNX compatible gong

    Hi,
This is my first post on this forum. First of all I would like to apologize for writing this post in English. I’m not a German speaker/writer. However, feel free to answer in German. Google Translate helps a lot. :-)
At home, I have a Gira Doorcommunication system. I have two doorstations (for two separate doors), and a Gira TKS-IP-Gateway. Using the “DCS-Communicator” software installed on my laptop, I am able to answer calls from my door (and open them using the electric lock).
There is one big disadvantage to this solution: when my laptop is off (or the sound is muted), I will not be aware of someone at my front door. :-)
I know I can buy the “Wohnungsstation” or the Gira Videoterminal. But I am looking for a different solution. I want to install a module/component on a discrete location in my hallway (in a corner, close to the ceiling). Obviously, I don’t need to operate this module. However, it just needs to make a clear audible sound when someone is dialing the doorstation. Regarding cabling: I only have the KNX bus available there, so it needs to be a KNX module (no direct connection to Gira DCS).
I have seen that, with the latest firmware of the Gira TKS-IP-Gateway, it is possible to trigger actions in the Gira Homeserver when someone is calling the doorstation (it is used for “JPEG-Abruf”, see http://t.co/rlMaCkTD).
So the question is: is there a (discrete) KNX component/module that is able to produce a sound triggered by a KNX command?
Secondary question: would it be possible to produce different melodies based on the parameters in the KNX command? This way, I could use the same module when the alarm should go of.
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi,

you can use a normal door bell which is connected to Schaltaktor (SA) in englisch maybe switch aktor.

If a command comes in the SA switches for a few seconds and the door bells rangs.

      Hi,

Thank you for your quick response.

So I would need to connect a schaltaktor to my KNX bus in the hall way. Subsequently, I connect the aktor to a classic doorbell.

Given the fact that that schaltaktor will be placed in my hall way (although in a corner, close to ceiling), could you recommend a small aktor that I can install discretely?

I guess it will not be possible to work with different melodies in this case?

I think the problem is that there is no other cable than KNX-Bus.
So you cant act with an switch actuator. Perhaps you can use this workaround:

        1. This explains how to build a switch actuator of an universal push button interface
        https://knx-user-forum.de/knx-eib-fo...fehlungen.html

        2. As gong use a 9V without needing a power supply
        http://www.grothegmbh.de/fileadmin/w...2009-08-11.pdf

So you can use the interface as an actuator wich will "push the ring-bell-button"
        Umgezogen? Ja! ... Fertig? Nein!
        Baustelle 2.0 !

you can use this one for example

          eibmarkt.com - Elektronisches Relais 1-fach, UP ER/U 1.1

To make a melodie u can send the signal for different times 1sec 2sec off 1sec on.

Therefore you can use a digital door bell.

Thank you both for your input!

So I buy a eibmarkt.com - Elektronisches Relais 1-fach, UP ER/U 1.1 as an intermediate between the KNX bus and a gong such as a http://www.grothegmbh.de/fileadmin/w...2009-08-11.pdf (or any other 9V gong that doesn't require a power supply).

What would I need to do in case I want to have different melodies for the different doors (so I know to which door to open)?

I guess I need a "2-fach" relais (such as ABB US/U 2.2 Universal-Schnittstelle, 2fach, UP), connect each of the pairs/kanäle, to a classical gong? Any specifications I need to keep in mind when selecting such a gong?

              Ok,
              I'm almost there.

Next to using the doorgong for two doors, I was considering to have a third trigger, which is an "alarm" function which I could initiate from the Gira Homeserver.

              I believe I require:
              ABB i-bus® EIB Universal Interface US/U 4.2 (4 channels)
And a door gong that has three inputs (door A, door B, alarm). I found this door gong from Honeywell. It even has an "alarm" sound which is perfect!

Am I correct, assuming that these two components work well together (the ABB US/U transmits binary signals, I guess that is ok)?

Only problem is, the Honeywell door gong seems to be available in the US only. Is anyone aware of an alternative available in Europe?
