Theben dimmer - can someone explain "MIX" vs "FIX"?

So I have a few Theben dimmers, but I believe they are all FIX models. I have DM8-2T, DM4T and DM4-2T

What is the difference with the DME / DMG models?

I think it's something to do with FIX vs MIX. I have read that MIX gives greater flexibility to mix and match modules.

But what flexibility would I need? The FIX dimmers I have allow each output to be set to a given load type. Why would I want something more flexible than that?

I am just trying to understand the product lines. Thanks

FIX: No additional Modules possible.
MIX: You can put an Dimmer-Extension beside a Switch-Basicmodule or Shutter-Basic-Module. As the name says: You can mix up to 3 Modules (Dimming, Switching, Binary Input, Shutter,...).
You always need the Basic (for example DMG) and up to 2 extensions (DME,JME...)
