    Hi Leute,

I've used the PT-LM for about 2 years and was very happy.
Although very small variations are observed, probably due to atmospheric pressure change.
Then, it began to exibit problems.
I'm absolutely not happy with Prignitz, they don't even reply to my many mails.

I gave them a call, everytime I experienced issues. Maybe try to call them.

However, as said - seems not really reliable products.

I'm not fluent enough in the german language to sustain a phone conversation. I persist to think that an email is a more adequate communication, that is: one can wait until an english speaking person is available.

I DO understand that a product can fail.
I DO NOT understand that a supplier doesn't respond to repetitive mails calling for service. I consider this as a deny of responsability and will harm the company's reputation on the long term.

                    HI raymond,

I will see what will happen with mit PT-LM. If you want, you can send your device to me, I will care for repair...

Thank you for the kind offer, sure I'll use it but let's see how it turns out.

As an aside, I've to admit my case might be a bit special, that is: the cable length is approaching the maximum permitted length, i.e. 18m (max=20). The water pit is 16m.

Hallo.

                            No personal experience.
According to the specs, it is based on differential atmospheric pressure, that is, there is a capillary (very tiny pipe) in the cable. Same principle as Prignitz.

Imho, those sensors work fine with very short and straight cables. I mean distances ranging to 3-4m, and no cable bend or tighten to strong (which could obstruct or reduce the capillary diameter).

Also, a thing to pay attention: the installation.
The end of the cable MUST be in contact with atmospheric pressure in order for the sensor to work properly. In my case, the cable was connected to an ABB AE/A... but when you close the mounting box of the AE/A .... it is hermetic.... almost sealed .... hence no connection with atmospheric pressure. I drilled a hole in the box, but this is an open door for problems (insects inside the pipe)

You could use a "breathing cable gland" (atmende Kabelverschraubung) which combine a cable gland and pressure compensation in one. Such a cable gland has an integrated ePTFE membrane (like Goretex) which literally lets the casing breathe. This will not only solve the problem with the insects, but also with condensing water and dirt.

WISKA CAS - WISKA INDUSTRY - VentGLAND

May you must use more than one of this special cable glands for each housing for fast pressure compensation. You will find a web based calculator at this website.

This is not a tip only regarding to pressure compensation because of the air-pipe of the differential pressure sensor, but also to protect electronics in such casings against condensation water.

                              Regards

Thank you for this very detailed explanation, much appreciated.
I wasn't even aware of the problematic
BTW, this problematic could have been mentioned in the PT-LM doc, if Prignitz wanted to have any value added
