KNX/EIB How to test a binary input

    Hello,

I've an understanding problem about how to test a binary input.

I've an ABB US/U 4.2 configured as "switch", channel D is connected to a dry contact (the contact is out of reach)
The output is connected to GA 0/6/27, and also to GA 0/6/10 (actuator + bin input)
The "inhibit" is connected to GA 0/6/28, signal is at 0 (enabled)

I want to test the setup, with the monitor, when I send a 1 to 0/6/27 nothing happens. Is this a valid test ?

NB: When I send a 1 to 0/6/10, it works as expected, hence the question: how to test a binary input, knowing that physically testing the dry contact is very difficult.

    Hi,

I'm still busy with the topic Binary Input.
In the picture below, when the PushButton is pushed, I want to trigger GA 0/6/27 (Visu) AND GA 0/6/10 (actuator)
Depending on the settings in ETS, (0/6/10, 0/6/27 or 0/6/27, 0/6/10) I get either one GA triggered or the other, not both. The flags seem OK.

Is this the problem of "only one Sending" ? if yes, I misunderstood the word "Sending". I though it was sending "from", seems to be sending "to", right ?

If it is "sending to only one GA", how can I solve it ? preferably at the ETS level

      Good evening

A KNX device may only send its value to one GA, but may listen to more than one. This binary input will only send its value to the first GA (and listen to the second GA, which obviously makes little sense here and is not what you had in mind). Why not use the first GA for your visu? You don't really need two GAs, do you?

      Cheers!
      Martin

It's one of the possibilities I tried, and indeed the Visu works and displays the action, but the actuator GA, is listening and not doing anything.

In this particular instance, yes !
I was hoping for a trick in ETS, I guess I'll find a workaround with the HomeServer but it's a bit "mit Kanonen auf Spatzen geschossen"

Coming up with German colloquialism, but steadfastly refusing to use the German tongue, I like that;-)

I have no good answer for this one, unless the actuator does not listen to the same GA as your visu. I got the impression that you were trying to get that binary input to send its value to two GAs, that's simply impossible.

Do you really want me to massacre such a nice language ?
            Reading is already a challenge.

            Your impression was right.

OK, I'll do it with the HS, writing a Baustein like "Sperre" with 2 identical outputs.
I guess I'm not the first one on planet Earth with this requirement/workaround.

I’m sure you’d not butcher the German language more than I do;-)

I used to think that this is a shortcoming of KNX (the fact that a CO can only send to one GA), but I simply got used to it and now I even think it to be a feature.

I even launched a thread here trying to get to the bottom of the issue:
