    KNX - DALI interface

Hi. Sorry if this has been asked about before, but my german is really bad and I could not find any good answers.

What is currently the best knx - dali interface?

I'm building a new house and will have about 120-150 dali devices (yes, each led spot will have it's own dali led driver). So this means I need three separate dali circuits.

I want to have both individual control of the lights as well as scenes and group control. Which interface would be the easiest and best to manage this? I have been looking at the Siemens 5WG1141-1AB21 and MDT SCN-DALI64.02 and would like other recommondations also.
It's ok if you write your answer in german, I'll just use Google translate...

    Hi,
if you really want to plan with 150(+) DALI devices you might not need three DALI Gateways...
If you use the 5WG1141-1AB21 in combination with a 5WG1141-1AB03 you are able to control 192 devices
    TWIN PLUS (2 x 64) and PLUS (1 x 64)
The one thing that made me choose the Siemens 5WG1141-1AB03 [ the PLUS, not the 1AB02 !! ] (I have way viewer devices) is that you are able to specify up to 6 Standby circuits, which will enable you to switch off power to some EVGs while still having DALI-BUS enabled.
This way I can switch off hallway, kitchen, living room, basement EVGs separately when no one is in the area.
150 EVGs will generate one hell of standby power consumption

    Hope this helps :-)

Why should every spot has his own driver? There are multi-channel driver available - so you can reduce the amount of drivers but each channel could be separately controlled. Check this option.

        Thanks for the answers.

I'm installing about 110-120 led spots, outdoor lights and extra "effect lighting" total of around 150 dali devices... I already have the DALI-drivers (I got them really cheap) but I also have the normal 230V drivers for each spot. The reason for going with Dali drivers is because of individual control of the lights and also perfect 0-100% dimming.

The standby power of all the drivers should not be more than 20-30W, not to much and the power is not wasted as the house will need some heat...

Will I have problems programming and controlling this many Dali devices (not recommended?) or should there be no problem?

I could not find any info on this, or is it the "emergency" function of the gateway?

          "emergency"... no
          this is a feature

Zitat von Application documentation Chapter 3.3
          Stand-by
This function makes it possible to define up to 6/12 areas,
for which the ECG power supply is shut off by a separate
load switch when all of the ECGs in this area have a
brightness value of zero (0). This serves to reduce the
quiescent power consumption of the ECGs.

Thanks, found the information about standby now.

            This is genius!!
