HS/FS Actual status of binary inputs

    Hello experts.

I am new to KNX. These days I plan installation (on my own) for my new house and I don't understand clearly the function of binary inputs. I would like to monitor some devices through connection to binary inputs (closed windows, doors, heat pump compressor, ventilation etc.). Do I understand it clearly I can detect the status of inputs only on the change, not "ask" them to send status?

I would use the HS to do some logical operations on this inputs but I aware of one possible critical point. What about HS server freeze/restart and actual status of these inputs? When the input changed its position before HS restart it has sent telegram. Then HS is restarted and I don't know on HS the input status, because no change happen (after restart, because telegram has been sent already). So my logic operation could be evaluated by mistake.

I think this is common problem so can anybody tell me how to solve this? I think it can be avoided by cyclical sending of input status telegrams but what about bus load in case I have 32 inputs?

    Thank you.

You (HS) can also ask for the status, no problem. If L-flag has been set, KNX will return the state.

      L-flag = R-flag (read)

So is it enough to set R-flag to inputs in ETS? HS will asks for status automatically?

HS will ask, if the checkbox "scan at start" will be set. This will be made for each objekt separately - it does not make sense for every ojekt.

There is "Binary Inputs" which wil sent one times the actual status, after the appliction of the binary input is started.
If you activated the parameter "Circular Sending", you will get the status automatically.
