HS/FS - √ - HS and camera Cisco CIVS-IPC-2500

Hi,

I'm trying to integrate a Cisco camera CIVS-IPC-2500 in the HomeServer.
I've read many posts about the topic, but I think I've an understanding problem.

I've installed the camera as per manual.
I've configured a fixed IP, a resolution of 352x288, data single stream MPEG-4, write down the path to the picture.
With the browser and a direct access
http://10.0.1.243/main.cgi?next_file=video.htm I can see the picture.

I'm not sure about my settings in the HS, maybe someone can spot the problem ? (with my current setup, I've an empty camera image)

So I'm looking for the URL of the image and can't find it. It's not published in the doc and wild guessing doesn't help.

Anyone has an idea ?

You can look at the source code of the page that displays the stream or look at the tcp sockets or even sniff access to find out whats happening.

I guess you're out of luck as soon as any activex controls or something similar is being used... (you will be able to find out whats happening using the above methods, but you wont be able to reproduce this on a HS)

That's what I wanted to avoid, hoping for a hint from someone having more experience than me

It is my understanding that activex controls are only used for the initial setup. The camera can be accesses from a Linux system (no activex controls)

(you will be able to find out whats happening using the above methods, but you wont be able to reproduce this on a HS)

I fear you are right. I searched the net and found some info about direct acces via URL

rtsp://<username password>@<ip address>/img/media.sav

but it uses the RTSP protocol, no http.
And the HS doesnt support RTSP, so, I guess I'm toast

In your browser you go to your management page and right-click the picture.
There you might have the url.

I know the procedure works for a static image, but I wonder if it's supposed to work with a stream ?

Maybe not , I've changed the format from MPEG to MJPEG, and found an URL on the Internet (/img/video.mjpeg) ..... and I got a picture on the HS Visu.
When I try to do "motion detection" the option is no more available, so I've to enable both MPEG and MJPEG (the last option).

The last part is to capture the video stream. I see several alternatives (HS archive, NAS, FTP)
What would be the recommended pratice ?

Would someone be so kind to list the steps needed, please ?

So far, I can see the video stream in the Visu
The camera allows for motion detection, when such an event happens, some actions can take place.
So far I've got email and ftp working
I'm mainly interested in the "http notification" as it seems to be a way to integrate the motion event in the HS via a Webabfrage.

I'm unable to make it work . I understand the cam uses a http_post method to send the event data to the web server, but there it stops.

From Wikipedia, I understand that there are some pre-requisites (the server must be "enabled")
Can someone help me, please ?
Any modifs to php.ini or apache.conf ? modules to be installed ?

I tried the Qnap forum here, without much success.

I would prefer NAS, because a harddisk is suited for this.
I dont know how data storage is solved at HS.
I think something like CF is used and this should not have too many write cycles.

Indeed, that's the first idea that comes to mind, but I'm concerned with the integration. I fear if choosing an easy solution, closes the door for further integration.
As an example, I can't see how I can use an email or an ftp file to trigger a KNX alarm.
So, the http_post might be my best bet, but I'm still unable to make it work.

Yes, there is a manual (if you call that thing a manual) but it is a copy of what you see on screen, no explanation, no examples, no word about pre-requisites

I think something has to be enabled at Apache or PHP, but don't know what, still googling ...

Hi,

I'm at the point where the camera image can be displayed in the Visu.
But each time I want to see the camera image, I need to supply a username/password.
In the camera itself, I can define a list of authorized users, but if the HomeServer's Visu is accessing the page, which user is that ?

Absolutely only cons from me: it slows down the HS noticeable (anything related to tcp), if not needed turn on "Kamera Direktzugriff", let the HS do his job slowly and use better suited devices for saving/displaying the pictures
Since I turned that off, 90% of my problems went away (and yes, I should have known better before..)
