Feel like they put all their eggs in X1 and One. At this point HS is feeling ancient and their handling of the feedback object with watch addresses is still not fixed or replaced by a better system. I'm glad the system runs stable but i have no desire at this moment to update.
Also their decision (which i understand) to stick to Python 2 makes it i have to run something like Home Assistant for communication for anything that HS does not support. Which is alot at this point.

And also to just make a hard cut is reasonable. In installations the most System integrators doesn't update the Firmware - the HS runs for ages till it dies / gets replaces by a new one including new configuration. And for new installations or fans like us we could develop much quicker and better on the expensive system.
So from my perspective no reason to stick to an abadoned python version except that it creates efforts in the back the customer doesn't see. In the end the stick to the old architecture leads also to the use of Expert instead of using a web UI to configure it directly. To be honest? My smart meter is more modern then my HS running the latest 4.x. Why? It has a web-UI, websockets, using javascript, has modules, a web-Updater and - crazy - is easy to use.
Sorry for my depressed words. Just coded some LBS and still have knots in my fingers due the structure and python 2.7.

Since everything now is at least made for python 3 its hard to look for code in 2.7
I'm using Home Assistant in between for all the things i could not get to work with HS. Only reason i have not switched to full HA is the reliability.
The reason i said i understand is: Besides them developing more for the X1 and One which i believe is in C? It would require work on their part which they are seemingly not willing todo. You would need a new Experte 5.x version that somehow has to import 4.x versions and still work. And god knows how many small interactions would break with an upgrade.
Do not get me wrong, i would love if they do that. But realistically i do not think they will.

Anyway, 4.12 does not seem exciting to me. I'll skip this as for now it brings nothing i need.
