ETS3 database - opening using Sybase SQL Anywhere?

Hi all,

I am trying to open my own ETS3 database (with my configuration) using Sybase SQL Anywhere. I know that the ETS3 database is a SQL Anywhere database, but I have troubles opening the DB as I do not know the password and user name.

Does anybody know whether the ets3 databases are connected to some internal ETS3 username and password? I would have guessed that the databases used by ets3 are not related to a password (everybody can open them with any ets3 installation...)? Did any of you ever tried to open an ETS3 database outside of ETS3? How did you achieve this?

Hi Stefan,

I tried the same maybe 1 year ago. And it worked! I found quite a good description how to get access in the internet. I can try to find it again.

It was an interessting test, but the database structure is quite complicated and i got no (free) documentation about the structure. So: reading the database just for fun is ok, getting real infomation should be possible but needs lot of time/work, writing to the database: NO!

That would be very useful. So please, if you could try to find the information again, I would be grateful :-) I have been looking myself before posting the question here, but without success.

I was actually hoping to be able to write some tools myself (mostly better reporting on a project and better version controlling with history etc.). Perhaps this will be to difficult, but it would still be nice to see the insides of the database.

The database will be changed from Sybase to SQL Server, which would be mainstream by today's standards, if the plan holds.

Die ETS - SW wurde ja erworben, die Daten selbst eingegeben
Man betrachtet also eigentlich "nur" die eigenen daten ohne irgendwelche Gefahr für den Rest der Welt.
Dass man nur eine Kopie oder Testdatenbank öffnet sollte schon klar sein, aber sonst sehe ich eigentlich kein Problem oder Gefahrenpotential
