The project is automatically saved and stored in the ETS Inside server. There is no doubt for that, therefore your comparison with Word or Excel is not valid. Do not forget, that this is a tool targeting the end customer or those who do not really have KNX knowledge, so we do not see any emergency for having the "open" and "import" function on the first version. We are however going to implement similar feature for exporting or making backup. The first version already includes a lot of new functionalities and most of all the possibility to configure a KNX installation in an easy way using a tablet. Therefore, I don't agree that it is a beta, because the beta was distributed last summer. Steve Jobs was a special person that has inspired not only KNX, but the entire world of technology.
Hello Gast ,
As I mentioned before, backup up will be for sure a functionality in the very next version of ETS Inside.

I might misunderstand your concern, but other tools like Gira GPA also save the project "behind the scenes", without an explicit save/load command.
That said, I think that a backup/restore feature of some kind is a requirement also. Just relying on the inside device to keep all the data, with no external backup, sounds like trouble ahead.
Regarding your comment for the backup, indeed, you will not need an ETS Professional. We will implement a backup mechanism most likely in a cloud service, but unfortunately not in version 1.0. However, I cannot give you a date for that
Import/Export and Backup/Restore to me seems the same thing. However, they might be some restrictions, for which I cannot answer like that without considering also our development team first. But, whenever it's there, you will see it!
Understand me correctly, I'm very positive to ETS Inside and eager to start testing it. But you make me concerned about not having a "open/save" feature in v1.0. As a paid commercial product this must be a must requirement. Imagine if Microsoft sold Word or Excel without a possibility to save your work??
I hope I misunderstood your answer above. If not, I think Konnex should rethink and instead offer the current version as a free public beta and postpone v1.0 until it has all important features included. Think more as Steve Jobs/Apple and try hard to make it right the first time.
The Windows IoT has not been tested, because it does not offer and IIS. But we will run a quick test and I’ll let you know what we found out. On the official help centre, the Windows 10 IoT has never been mentioned. However, it's good that you report that, I can inform my colleagues who prepare the slides to remove it. (Good observation by the way! )
The sign in is not available yet for the public, since that will be the support page for all your tickets. It will be available within the next months.
This is a good idea, which we will for sure consider it! Cloud solutions are a good option. Regarding your comment for the backup, indeed, you will not need an ETS Professional. We will implement a backup mechanism most likely in a cloud service, but unfortunately not in version 1.0. However, I cannot give you a date for that

HHowever, after checking it deeper for the implementation, we found out that his is technically not possible. On the iPads it is not allowed to browse files.
The ETS Project file isn't on the client Ipad anyway, OR? Why should you not in the GUI for the clients be able to attach or save a project archive file to/from a cloud service? (iCloud, Dropbox, Onedrive, Google Drive etc)
Project synchronisation will be the function to exchange projects between an ETS Professional and an ETS Inside device, but this will come later on this year and not on the first public version.
From my point of view, the end customer must be able to backup and restore his/her project without involvement of ETS Pro. And this must be in v1.0. Else is it should not be released as finished 1.0 version.
Just to avoid misunderstandings; do you see a difference between Import/Export and Backup/Restore of Projects - or is it the same?

Hi Vassilios,
one more question on the server-side platform: Your support centre post says "Microsoft Windows 10 (Home, Pro, Enterprise)", which I interpret as x86 / x86-64 platforms. However, in the introduction videos Skye specifically mentions Windows 10 IoT as another platform (nutshell video, 1:10). Can you comment on this?
