    HS/FS - √ - HomeServer problem---Sorry dont know german

    Hi guys

I am sorry i dont know German (sorry) and hopefully that shoouldnt put you guys off frm helping. have just started workign with Home Server. I am finding it real hard to connect it to my system at work.

I have set up at Bank board at work that controls the lights, blinds and windows and works perfectly well. So now i decided to make my way to home server.

But i can not seem to access the server at home all through my lap top. I have a router ip on the board as well Which works fine.

    I tried:

Connected to my HS network via network cable
Connected laptop to my network via cable netowork

both these network cables connected to the switch (network owner).
BUT I CAN NOT ACCESS THE HS THROUGH MY LAPTOP.

have checked the ip address 198.168.0.11 its the default and its not been taken over by any other device.

PLEASE can someone can give me help.If you in detail on how to connect the HS and log into it. That would be great.appreciate the time and effort.

    Thank you
    vimal

Did you transfer an initial project defining the bus acces type, adresses etc. and also the IP adress via serial transfer from the Experten-Software?

    Best regards

Sory, but that's the very basics: You MUST prepare your own "project" within the experten-Software and load that into the Homeserver, otherwise it is just a piece of dumb but expensive hardware.

I think there is a GIRA "getting started" document which is also delivered with the HS, however i dont know if it is customized into english if you buy that thing in the UK.

Install the Experten-Software, take one of the example projects, customize it to your own setup (at least bus acess mode and IP adresses) and load it onto the HS via RS232. Next loads after that can be done via TCP/IP (and will therefore be quite faster).

        Regards,

You need the "Experte"-Software (runs on Windows) which is provided on CD in the HS package. If not, you can download it there Gira Download (you have to register with Gira to get access to this download).

Install this software and configure your HS according to your needs, at least you should enter the basic information for your network. Then you can transfer your project to the HS, the initial transfer has to be made via RS232 (cable should be provided in the box).

You might need to update the HS-Firmware according to the Experte-Version.

After the initial transfer (containing a project with valid network configuration) you can access the HS via network / IP.

              Hi guys

with the advice from the guys above and after pondering in the net, to certain level understand this but i still have problems:

1.Since i am doing this is the first time i have to do it through RS232:
so Master Data---project---Project setting----eib&iets::: here what do i select for the interface? or is this only for Ip router.

              2. when i checked the project these errors come up:
--Host adress or Ip port invalid
              --invalid prefix or suffix entered.

              3. the same errors come up when i am transferring them as wel

and i guess the transfer is stopped

any advice on this? cheers for the help so far thank you

Goto project, settings, Network first in order to enter ip-Adress, Gateway etc.
It should be the top icon on the left side

See attached Screenshot. Open the project, first Click marked 1. Then set up the type of connection to the EIB, either serial mode with FT1.2 interface, USB, or IP (2). Then assign an EIB-address for the HS (3).
Then klick on "Netzwerk" and put in the IP-Address, Mask, Gateway, DNS for the Ethernet-Interface.

Close the dialog, open "Übertragen", select "über serielle Schnittstelle", choose your COM interface, klick "Starten". Dont forget to connect your PC with the HS with the special nullmodem-cable (should be in the package).

                  Have fun,

You should post some Screenshots of your settings so that we can show you whats wrong.

                          Pic1 & 5:
this ist the Network config. Is there a networkadministrator? He should know the Gateway & CO
                          Otherwise you can try:
                          Default-gateway 192.168.0.1
                          DNS Server 192.168.0.1
(If the Networkadress 192.168.0.11 is the right one)

You can also look at your Notebook! Networkconections/Details (if you are at the same Network)

Pic 2 The first time you have to upload with the serial port. The button ist the right one. On the next Popup the 2. TAB (over serial). there can you choose your COM port. After press start, you have to restart your HS.(see instructions)

                            a) Switched off the HS
                            b) Connected the HS and my laptop with the serial cable RS232
                            c) Started the transfer on teh HS expert
                            d) Then switched on the HS
PIC3: After waiting for a while this appeared.
PIC4 & PIC 5 : These are the setting. i used teh default IP address for the Homeserver as i know its not been used by any other device.

Did u used the original HS Cable? Ther are differences between the "Standard Cable" and the "HS-Transfer cable!" Your PC has an real RS 232 or is it a USB to RS232 converter?
