    HS/FS Hardware Specifications/breakdown of HomeServer / FacilityServer

    Hello,

I want to use this topic to share as much knowledge as possible about the HomeServer / FaciltityServer hardware, all at one place.
    • Hardware specifications
    • Photos
    • Repair information / Photos
    • Information about shops were to buy replacement/spare parts
This way everybody has a possibility to buy on second-hand (broken) HomeServer and fix it, or fix a HomeServer which is out of guarantee/warranty.

    Gira HomeServer 3

    Hardware Specifications
    Mainboard: Via Epia ...?..
    Chipset: ...?..
    Form-Factor: Mini-ITX (17 cm x 17 cm)
    Onboard-LAN: Realtec ?
    ISDN Adapter: Siemens..?
    CPU: 600 MHz (x86 based) ..VIA C7.. ?
    RAM: 128 MB (type?)
    Flash: 64MB

    Maintenance / Repairing informatino
Is there anyone who had a broken HomeServer in the past and has experience with Gira's maintenance/service department ? What happened ? Did they only swap the mainboard or th whole unit ?
As far a we 'officially' know, the HomeServer is 'hardware dongled' to the mainboard. So 'officially' it is not possible to swap your mainboard (when out of warranty, for repair) because then your license/key won't be valid anymore and the software won't work. However, we will not discuss anything about the licenses here or this topic will be closed ! I suggest you Google yourself.

Thank you Roeller, for thios information.

I wanted to know, if it is necessary to buy the Homeserver or Facilityserver. I would like to buy only the Software and use my own Hardware - components, which will be more usefull and will have a higher quality.

Do you know, if this is possible, or do we have to bux the hardware, too?

    Thanks

        Stan,

buying the software only is not possible.

Using the GIRA-Software, provided on their homepage is still only allowed in connection with the GIRA Home-/ Facilityserver Hardware.
So you have to buy the hardware from GIRA as well.

          Hi!

I think there is a topic which explains the different types of the HS in the Lexikon? What is the aim of this thread?

And what is the aim of the placeholders?

          Regards

This thread is about hardware specifications/details. The exact brand/type of ISDN adapter, where to buy a (spare) power supply (if it's broken),.. etc.
I don't know what to do with the placeholders, but it's always handy when this becomes a big topic (additional downloads, information about thread II, photos, etc.)

It would also be a good idea to place static information (without discussion) there:

Does anybody know the new hardware specifications of Gira Homeserver 4 >i21 (which needs the firmware 4.6). I thought it could be that it's now multicode and so they needed to update all the firmware files to support Multi-threading. Can someone say anything about this? Matthias..?

(maybe we should put it in the Lexicon)

It is a new board that needs new drivers (LAN). The old one had reached its EOL. Nothing special.

                  3313 instead of 3303
