Hörmann Torantrieb bald mit KNX Kompatibilität

Once the Hörmann KNX interface becomes available, I'll swap out the current setup.

Perhaps I could just leave the garage door on manual for now, as it is still about 10 months before home is finished and everything needs to be integrated. Until then the automation does not matter much during construction.

In addition to power cabling for Hormann drive, I will run KNX cable from distribution box to the location of garage drive. Hopefully Hormann will release their KNX module in next 10 months and a single KNX cable will be sufficient. If not, I can still put a single cheap 4in+4out push button interface there, like Lingg&Janke or Zennio, to interface 4 inputs and 3 outputs of the Hormann UAP1. If worst happens and I need to run additional wires from distribution, it will not be a big problem either, as it the main distribution is located in garage and is just 6m away from where Hormann drive will be located.

Questions:
1) Are there any better options today than using UAP-1?
2) If the Hörmann KNX native interface becomes available in the future, would it be possible to swap out UAP-1 for that without drive change?

For the time being, I'm using a simple switch actuator (MDT AKK-01UP.03), which is directly connected to the garage door drive (to the push button connection), without any intermediate devices. The switch actuator will send an impuls, which will toogle the garage door (open/closed). Integration into KNX is thus extremely simple.
To have a status object (whether door is open or closed) I'm using a Reed contact in addition.

Once the Hörmann KNX interface becomes available, I'll swap out the current setup.

I would guess this is one of the cheaper option for the current circumstances. I can reuse the switch actuator for other purposes, once it has been swapped out.
The alternative is to buy the UAP + KNX actuators and at least the UAP will become obsolete for you once the Hörmann KNX interface becomes available.

I am also currently choosing garage and front doors. Hörmann is the only one who can manufacture them in the required design and color, within reasonable timeframe and cost.
Local distributor and installer could not provide any information about availability of native KNX interface for the motors. There used to be a third party interface HM-KNX, but that no longer is available.

The only remaining option right now seems to be UAP-1 (or UAP-1 HCP for newer drives) dry contact interface, with a binary input/output module and some glue logic to translate from KNX blinds protocol to Hörmann gate protocol.

Questions:
1) Are there any better options today than using UAP-1?

Hm - gibt ja viele andere Anbieter auf dem Markt. Wenn es garnicht kommt, würde ich von Hörmann vermutlich wieder abrücken für mindestens Tor, ggfs. auch Garage - habe aber noch bis Q2 nächstes Jahr Zeit, dieses Jahr wird das nix mehr mit der Schlosserei, haben alle nach wie vor zu viel Arbeit.

Du hast schon recht bzgl. Nachfrage. Zu dem Zeitpunkt gibt es aber auch immer Produktmanager wo gerne das grosse Ganze sehen und alle Systeme anbieten wollen. Je näher das Projektende scheint, desto schmäler das Budget und umso eher wird nochmal nachevaluiert wo die Prioritäten sind.

Also ich hab es so gelernt, dass man diesen Punkt VOR der eigentlichen Produkt-Entwicklung und Vermarktung prüft. Daher gehe ich mal davon aus, dass es schon eine gewisse Nachfrage gibt.
Und da Hörmann ja auch nicht zu den "Billig-Heimern gehört, gehe ich davon aus dass ein ziemlich großer Prozent-Satz der EFH, die ein Hörmann-Tor bekommen, auch eher gehoben Ausgestattet sind und entsprechend oft mit KNX ausgestattet sind. Und so schließt sich in meinen Augen der Kreis wieder.

Und da die Funktionsvielfalt (und damit die Komplexität) so einer Schnittstelle für ein Tor recht überschaubar ist, erklärt sich mir nicht wieso es so lange dauert...

Sehe es wie Du. Kann mir schlecht vorstellen, dass sich Hörmann hier zu jedem „Smarthome“-System eigenes Wissen aneignet. Vermute sie haben den HCP-BUS deshalb entwickelt, der definiert die verfügbaren Schnittstellen und damit können sie „jegliches“ Fremdsystem anbinden, dies idealerweise Fremdvergeben.

Dennoch kostet es Geld und Zeit (Entwicklung, Testen, Dokumentation und Schulung der MA) Evtl. ist die Nachfrage nicht da?

Ich frag mich die ganze Zeit, es muss doch irgendwo jemanden geben, der dafür Verantwortlich ist bei Hörmann.
Es wäre schön, wenn von dort endlich mal eine verlässliche Aussage kommt, ob wir noch mit dem Produkt rechnen können oder nicht und wenn ja, wann?
So kompliziert kann das ganze ja nun nicht sein. Und sonst sollten die das einfach "Fremdvergeben" z.B. an ise die ja schon einige Bausteine produzieren und Fit im Thema KNX sind. (Wobei ich vermute, dass das wohl eh so sein wird)

Habe gerade mit Tor71 telefoniert, und die sind da ebenfalls frustriert. Die Dame sagte mir dass permanent Anrufe dazu reinkommen, man aber ziemlich desillusioniert sei.

Hab die Tage wieder die Info bekommen das es im Herbst kommen soll. Mittlerweile glaube ich nix mehr und warte bis es da ist. Im schlimmsten Fall verkauf ich den 4 er und nutzen den 2er weiter mit dem UAP

Ich kann mir schon vorstellen, dass das KNX-Modul keine so hohe Prio bei Hörmann hat.

Und leider gibt es hier ja immer nur Infos um viele Ecken, bei MDT oder ConstaLED (Voltus) bekommst die Infos wenigstens aus erster Hand.
Wer weiß ob die Leute bei Hörmann am Ende der Leitung überhaupt etwas wissen, oder einfach nur das Datum dass im System steht vorlesen.

Ich denke die wenigsten von uns kennen die Durchlaufzeiten bei KNX Association für die Zertifizierung, wenn dann da ein "Problem" auftaucht, gehts ja wieder von vorne los.

Da Sie zumindest das Produkt schon in offiziellen Katalogen abgedruckt haben, besteht immerhin noch Hoffnung.

ich glaube nicht wirklich daran, das das Gateway noch kommt.
Hörmann tat sich immer schwer mit Dingen, an denen keine Muttern und Schrauben sind )

hatte gerade Hörmann in der Leitung. Habe dann auch direkt nochmal nach dem Modul gefragt. Er sagte sie hatten Urspünglich Sommer angenommen, dann Herbst und jetzt sagte er mir, es ist zwar im Katalog, aber wir wohl auch im Herbst nichts. Bis auf weitere nicht Lieferbar so seine Worte.

Hoffen wir das Beste. Naja, mein Tor läuft jetzt vorübergehend einfach über nen normalen Schaltaktor...
